"Aleshire said it’s not unusual for government agencies to tap the common-law privacy exception in an attempt to withhold records from the public. But he’s used to it being cited in cases that involve children, medical data or other highly personal information" www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I agree. I may dislike what he does, but that doesn’t excuse harsh comments. I‘m sorry for any offence my comment may have caused. Not just him, but anyone else who may also be suffering from a disability and felt any offence. I was raised better than that. .

"Financial decisions" that are "intimate and embarrassing" but "do not relate" to "a governmental body." Was Elon Musk giving Greg Abbott insider information to use for personal investment purposes? That's the first thing that I can think of that would fit those criteria.

One concludes from Abbot's own words, that business is done Differently in Texas than in America. It must involve crime - bribes, hookers, drugs, kickbacks and various other forms of corruption. How could it Not? Texas poaches employers from other states because their infrastructure is garbage.

Intimate and embarrassing you say

Common law has always been intimate, embarrassing, and meant to shelter longstanding practices, for good or ill. Like "originalism," it is improperly used in the 21st century.

if emails sent on gov't computers, then emails shud be released to the public. No one has ever died from embarrassment, however more than a few political careers have definitely died from public embarrassment. time to exit Mr. Abbot

What's the point of FOI legislation if the government can block it based on it being "embarrassing"? That's just the kind of thing FOI legislation was intended to uncover.

So the relationship between Abbott and Elon involves depraved sex acts in exchange for money or political favors, is what I'm hearing. And they like to sext via official channels.

BS. That’s exactly the reason the public is entitled to see these records of elected officials and other public entities, who may use undue influence against the public good. Given the behaviors of these 2 characters, I’d say public access is imperative.

In Texas “common law” is usually how you decide you married the thirteen year old instead of rape cause you got away with it for seven years if you’re using lawyer property speak or BS internet babble for I’m a white American so I don’t have to obey tax or traffic law. Give him the chair he loves…

Yeah, the law says that, uh, anything that might, um, make me look bad is, um, private and the public can't see it because, uhhh, unwritten laws y'know.

Oh dear, not intimate and embarrassing! Maybe don’t do the intimate and embarrassing things you’d need to be ashamed of, or be sure you’re not communicating in written form. First they FA, then they FO.
