we have an utter fucking nimrod attempting to set himself up as dictator because for 50 years anyone who could have stopped him has dithered and procrastinated, hoping someone else would do it

So Trump saw Dems pathetic response to Jan 6th and concluded basically everyone with 'power' in America was actually a pathetic push over coward and... It turns out he was right.

Congress has been thoroughly dysfunctional for decades. And, through capricious gerrymandering and the corrosive influence of money, they have insulated themselves from being held accountable by constituents. Now, someone atop the Executive branch has chosen to take advantage.

The reality is that all those people were actively in on it because they get paid by the same people that support Trump. They just preferred a version that's less overt where they can exploit people's suffering over a long period of time for economic benefit. Deep down, they are on the same side.

My entire adult life has been me watching the Democrats fuck the bag up over and over again, burning the lives and livelihoods of their biggest supporters and allies for nothing but cheap, temporary power they didn't even do anything with besides some stock manipulation.

And then looking back at what the Democrats were doing before my adult life and seeing the same fuckups over and fucking over, making the same fuckup mistakes and learning absolutely nothing as capital accumulated and organized against the interests of their supporters.

And for 50 years, the people themselves remained complacent, like zombies repeating the same rhetoric, that the system was absolute, that the dual-party illusion was the only way. Never once challenging the structure that enabled their own decline. Canary in the mines chirping away

worst of all were Biden and Merrick Garland, who were expecting the voters to bail them out so they didn't have to clap Trump in irons, and when that didn't happen they said "oke doke, The People have spoken, I will now retire to private life"

I will never understand why they’ve been so useless for so long - I hate to think it all comes down to reliance on big donors whose economic interests demand a more quiescent politics (“bipartisanship!”) as it seems a bit reductive to pin it all on that, but tbh I don’t know what else explains it.

I mean… he was literally charged 100 times over and convicted Too bad Dems didn’t go the “secret South American prison to disappear political opponents”route and just needed voters to not make the single fucking stupidest decision in the history of elections.

Why does anyone think at this point that voters would even care if he was found guilty on every count and put in prison? MAGA would love it and braindead median voters would be googling the night before “wait is Trump in prison now and is he still a magic business fairy…?🤤”

Trump senses this and it's made him a megalomaniac. all the wealthy, elite leaders of powerful institutions are easily bullied chickenshits

Incredible footnote to the Paul Weiss-bends-the-knee debacle: They hired Quinn Emmanuel and geared up to sue the Trump administration, but also had Quinn back-channeling with the White House and decided to surrender instead www.nytimes.com/2025/03/20/u...

One of the biggest risks of drawing nearly all of our elites and leaders from a small group of rich people from the same background and with the same life experiences. Rich kids who see status as their birthright are never fighters. Bullies, yes. But never fighters

I’m sure the round of applause on Garland’s last day from a bunch of employees who are either already or will be fired is worth it to him for his name being synonymous with milquetoast failure for generations!

do you really think either of them are an asset publicly now? Maybe now that the party is in disarray but honestly they’re better off keeping away from cameras now

I am so exhausted and disgusted by the duopoly and the apathy. My husband watches David Muir and my blood boils just hearing all the BS when I KNOW that 400 more Palestinians were murdered by Israel and WE ARE IN A COUP but somehow that doesn't make the news.

Conservatives know the one way to make the people think someone is a criminal is to put them prison. I’d like to think this is distasteful to the democrats but i actually think they just find it distasteful to do it to someone at their own “level”

People wrongly think "nimrod" means stupid person. This mistaken notion started with a cartoon in which Bugs Bunny sarcastically referred to Elmer Fudd as Nimrod. Nimrod is a biblical character. He was a king who was famous for his skill as a hunter. Hence the sarcasm. And now you know.

There were literally like a dozen moments to stop him but Trump got bailed out by Schumer, McConnell, SCOTUS, local courts, Manchin, Garland, the FBI multiple times, and district judges. Why would you stand up to him now given that everyone else had folded to him like wet toilet paper.

I think it's easier to blame the leaders than to accept that "we the people" are also cowards and self serving. The 10%, the small business owners, the people too disconnected to vote, the folks who complain loudly on the internet but don't show up when they need to --- we are all to blame.

Still cracks me up that the entire reason January 6th happened in the first place was because Trump was afraid if he left office Dems would hold him accountable for all the crimes he committed in his first term

I'm sure Robert Mueller will stop him. I'm sure Joe Biden will stop him. I'm sure Merrick Garland will stop him. Wait, now he has unconditional power over all branches of government and total immunity from any laws? I'm sure Chuck Schumer will stop him...

The fact nobody has been willing to stop him because "well if we stopped him for the myriad of criminal crimes he's crimed up that might be a bad precedent" is so damned pathetic. So now global security is at risk, because nobody would hold the criminal Trump to account bsky.app/profile/grae...

Merrick Garland, mere hours before the heat death of the universe: Ok I'll investigate now, but let's not rush it otherwise it could appear partisan
