If you google, there are tons of images and videos of people around the world throwing tear gas back. Obviously it can be done, but with good gloves or something similar. Kicking, using hockey stick or something like that is probably more safe though.

Fun fact for people not in the know. The use of CS gas (the common tear gas the US allows against protesters) is considered a warcrime when used against other nations.

I don't know about CS gas being "newer." It was being used in Berkeley 54 years ago in 1972. By the way, CS gas is legal for riot control, but not for warfare. www.thedefensenews.com/news-details...
