Sounds right to me. Sure, Dems are way more serious about health care than the GOP but they stop short of suggesting that the insurance companies and hospital networks are the problem. They need to be more bold. They will find it also makes them more believable.

The problem with contemporary healthcare, not limited to the US, is that nobody is sure where healthcare starts or ends We want to live forever, without pain and at 100% function. The demand is infinite, the resources aren't.

The problem is getting 218 House members, 60 Senators and a President that will sign the bill! That’s the problem! And there’s one time reconciliation with 51 Senators…but remember you’re going up against one of the biggest employers in the country that is in every congressional district🤔

The problem is that this country has 2 parties that reverse any progress made by the former administration's vs building on it. Also many are prejudice, corrupt, out for themselves, scared little puppies, etc. My hope for 2026 is that the majority of good willed voters will prevail.

But Republicans have had no healthcare plan and have tried 70 times to repeal ACA…so it’s not a “both sides” because Dems had nothing to overturn because republicans have no healthcare plan…🤷🏾‍♀️

I guess Cuban either hasn't heard the calls for universal healthcare commonly known as a 'single payer system' or he doesn't know what it is. It would effectively eliminate the need for insurance by paying for everyone to be covered. One guess what companies are fighting hard to stop this.

I guess Wikioedia was off when I searched for single-payer healthcare. "Within single-payer healthcare systems, a single government or government-related source pays for all covered healthcare services.[6] Governments use this strategy to achieve several goals, including universal healthcare,

Cuban says: Dems are “not offering any solutions and they’re certainly not saying ‘Break up the big insurance companies, break up the big hospital networks.’ My response is that Cuban can lie that there are no ideas on the left, but the Bulwark should give context that this is a lie.

Clinton's healthcare bill failed in a Democrat controlled Senate. Sanders was in the House at the time. Much like the ACA it was a terrible piece of legislation. Not only did the two bills set back real healthcare solutions both were politically disastrous. Bernie was right then and he is right now.

Our society doesn’t have any core value regarding the well being of others. Just a shit-ton of greed and selfishness rolled up in easy to swallow rationalizations and excuses.

I remember a professor at William and mary posing the Heinz Dilemma to us in class in the mid- 90's. We wrote essays and had to discuss aloud in class. It always stuck with me the variety of perspectives on the dilemma.

Hm, I think it was K. Sebelius that said it best in the recent past. You cant look at individual parts of the Healthcare system to solve it. You have to address it holistically. Insurance sure, hospitals sure, big pharma sure, ed/ research sure, preventative sure. Address 1 you are can't fix it.

I haven't looked at what he's saying/offering, but I'll bet whatever it entails is still based on a for-profit layout. That is what needs to be taken out entirely. Healthcare should be on the same standing AND funding as the military. R's want that strong military? Fine, make every citizen healthy.

For profit healthcare was never meant to work for us. Transcript of taped conversation between President Richard Nixon and John D. Ehrlichman (1971) that led to the HMO act of 1973 ⬇️

Yeah, I’m gonna listen to the billionaire who doesn’t know about a referral or that the rich already get preferential treatment. Cuban is a fucking clown. bsky.app/profile/mcub...

Mark Cuban@mcuban.bsky.social

For all Universal HC/Single Payer/M4A advocates. What do the biggest, expensive hospital chains do. Do they opt out and only serve the rich ? Who in the USA gov runs the program? R U ok with having to see a primary care doc before you can see a specialist ?

More thoughts from this genius. “Give rich people tax cuts. That’ll work.” Fuck Mark Cuban. bsky.app/profile/mcub...

Mark Cuban@mcuban.bsky.social

Want to use rich people like me to your advantage? Incent us to help those who need it the most. Lower corp taxes for comps that pay a min of $25 per hour. Lower corp taxes if employees get stock at the same pct as the CEO. Bottom up incentives work. Dems never innovate. They bitch

Breaking up the insurance companies and the hospital networks is a good start. The biggest problem, though, is profit. You simply can't have for profit healthcare because profit will always be the guiding factor.

Mark shows that he is no different than the rest of the grifting billionaires! The Democrats have tried many times to address this issue without help from the other side. Insurance is a mute point when you have no democracy or country! Wake the hell up, Mark!

Also, we hold the wrong ppl up in society. He's not even the right person to ask. He's just rich. He will never even need insurance. Why does he get attention? Because he does the pseudo-philanthropic activity of making "less" profit off of our misery. Its basically an abusive relationship.

Me and@bjmcgee.bsky.social

The real truth is, we can have UHC. But, we'll have to nationalize some assets, and careers, and destroy an industry or two. Ppl like Mark wont be able to make any profit off of the system, Dr's will be paid by the hour, and piecework pricing will go into the anals of history.

Me and@bjmcgee.bsky.social

And this is why so many constantly scream so loudly for UHC, and so loudly at Merk. He doesnt understand what denial of care even means. To us poors, it means dying in many cases. It means watching our children die. It means losing our homes and passing on debt to our loved ones in a blink of an eye

“Rick Scott wants to do something” - you mean get in at design phase so he can make sure he still has a money pipeline? Why would we trust people who dont feel the pain to solve any of the problems their political donations have caused?

Universal Healthcare is the only hope. The wealthy can still have their private hospitals and doctors- like they do in Europe

Because the lobbying is massive. Go back to 2009 and study what they wanted with single payer. It couldn’t happen. The compromise was ACA because the insurance industry is too big . It needs to be dismantled

The only thing that makes sense is universal healthcare, as many other countries have successfully done. We deserve nice things, why are so many people so gullable to believe it's bad when there is proof out there that it works well? Stop believing the con jobs of the rich! Stop feeding the rich!

Wow, so the billionaire has the knowledge to fix our healthcare system. Once again, billionaires do not have some special sauce that makes them capable of solving problems. Please, look outside your bubble and try real experts.

Fixing health care is easy. Nationalize the insurance agencies thus becoming a "Single Payer" and dictating the costs of medications, services, etc. Meanwhile, individual or employer plans will convert to taxes.

In Canada there are still insurance companies. They handle things like dental, physiotherapy, vision care prescriptions, Long term disability etc. it's not a perfect system but people don't go broke from getting cancer. Likely the US insurance companies would have their service limited to similar

Any other “solution” is no solution at all. Judging by international per capita health care costs compared with the US, it sure looks like half of every health care dollar goes straight into the pockets of insurance companies.

Sometimes I think the DEMs are too afraid to take on "big" corporations, businesses like insurance, banks, etc. Unless you have a president not afraid to tackle some of those issues like fraud in banking, pharma pricing, questionable contracts with big corporations, media conglomerates, etc.

Insurance is, by definition, a FOR PROFIT industry. Insurance companies are the last bastion of organized crime: "That's a nice limbic system/heart/lungs/etc. ya got there. Be a shame if something happened to it."

Hospitals and healthcare in general have to be nonprofit – health insurance companies have to disappear altogether! #UniversalHealthcare #MedicaidForAll

Cuban doesn't care about healthcare. He left Bluesky because everytime he brought it up people would point him to research giving him the answers to questions he was asking, but he would ignore. Why? Because they weren't the answers he wanted. He's a fraud on this topic like so many others.

Break up all the big companies. Merger and acquisitions are a plague on everyone but the oligarchs. The antitrust laws are still on the books if someone would bother to blow the dust and cobwebs off of them.

He also said the ACA had good intentions but it got chipped away at until it was no longer the ACA (i.e., elimination of the individual mandate). He’s right, but he failed to point out the elephant in the room; it was the republicans doing the chipping. They are NOT trying.

That quote was about the democrat efforts, the next question was, “what about the republicans?” And his answer was, “They’re trying.” He did go on to talk about 2 of them, but it was a far more forgiving response. I appreciate what he’s doing, but come on.

That seems like it largely depends on which democrats he's talking about. Kudos for taking the "outsider populist" tack to sell more of your shit, but we're done with rich assholes. It's already the gilded age, and you let it happen, at best. Too late. The populace is pissed.

Like most people who dabble in healthcare without actually living it, Cuban has a barely rudimentary understanding of the many, many problems in our utterly broken system. His ideas are like “fixing” a totaled car by putting new tires on it.

He’s not wrong. Democrats aren’t offering solutions to anything. A couple sternly worded letters to Trump but no party wide solutions to fix the healthcare issues. To fix and prevent future Trumps. Preventing future Republicans from dictating taxpayer money, rigging power for their needs …

Yeah… 15 years ago and it was watered down from the onset. Since then the DNC and majority of the party have rejected Medicare For All/Universal Healthcare because too many of them are in the pockets of the Insurance Companies

Lets bash Dems - the party that did in fact get something passed on health care reform - when Rs control every branch of government and have NEVER offered a plan.

The ACA was a start; Dems will get there bc people are coming around now, while the Rs are hellbent on repeal with no plan.

Has Cuban not seen the proposals for single payer universal health care Democrats have been proposing since FDR? That *IS* the proposal that would break up those insurance companies and hospital networks.

Most advocates for reform forget one thing: Large employers who pay substantial amounts for employee health insurance will have a windfall if the burden is transferred to gov't. Reform should include a requirement that employers must add to employee pay the amount of those savings.

Yes yes… I’ve said for years that small businesses are at a disadvantage without a universal health care system. how many people will not work for a small company out of fear they may lose health care?

Yes and it’s the primary reason that more people can’t start a new business. You can’t quit your job and devote time to a business when you suddenly have to start paying 3,000 a month for family health insurance.

Dems warned of GOP policies causing rural hospitals to close and doctors would leave States that disallowed them from practicing best available medicine they trained to provide. Cuban thinks Dems with no power are responsible for coming up a 100% new national plan instead of restoring subsidies?

He's either a naive fool or a liar. The GOP has ZERO interest in fixing U.S. healthcare because they directly benefit (disproportionately) from it being an expensive mess through political donations. Plus to deliver affordable healthcare you need subsidisation of the poor. Which the GOP detest.

I’ve been saying we need to fix current Medicare & make it more like Medicaid where everything is covered & offer it as a public option where cost is based on income. That would give us a nonprofit low cost competition to for profit health insurance companies & force them to lower their rates.

And why do we believe him. Nothing in his private or public profile indicates he’s anything other than another huckster billionaire. LMK when he helps with ppls medical debt instead of reestablishing the same middleman insurance we already have under another name. Insurance companies have to go.

Let’s face it the problem is not lack of action from dems, it’s the LOBBYING money in the industry! First end Citizens United, then no party gets political campaign funds, THEN we can work on universal health care after no one making decisions can get any payoffs.

Why always the Democrats, so tired of this same bs when the country is in dire straights yet they find something on democrats they don't like. So much to talk about on the Republican whiner party, yet it's the democrats.

I can't see myself getting behind some rich businessman. We have done that experiment and the result has been catastrophic.

Much as I agree with some of what Mark Cuban says, do you have to give one more rich person a forum to let all us poor folk know how stupid we all are. Give me a fucking break in 2026.

Cuban is just another billionaire giving his unsolicited opinion on the state of the Democratic party. Maybe with all of his billions, he could send a check to every senior citizen who is living on a fixed income- that would be very helpful, his opinions are not.

Some politician will have the brains to put together all the corporate profits associated with health insurance and talk to the American people about how much greed that is while they can’t afford to see a doctor. Until they do that, they are not serious

Easier said then done. Remember that Democrats are fighting the many years of republican propaganda, messaging that Universal Healthcare is socialism. For some reason many reasonably intelligent Americans have bought into this garbage. This needs to be done more delicately.

Democrats know there's limited time for legislating. We have an agenda which hits other high spots -- like wealth disparity, election security with mail-in ballots included, banking reforms, tax reform, continuing help to Ukraine, and many other things. Has the Senate filibuster been ended yet?

Hot air. Because Dems don't say what Cuban thinks they should.....Dems don't have to come out with solutions right now. Republicans control everything. Why isn't he critical of Republicans not saying this. We know why. Money. Money and power. That group includes Cuban.

Give me a break. I unfollowed Mark for this reason. He's no different than Elon, but he will blame both sides & talk about what he believes is the best option, bc he has money & thinks he's smarter than everyone else. He's not. Theories/ideas are not solutions. Just convo starters.

And yet he fusses about suggesting that the US implement any kind of universal health care when he posts on Bsky.

Democrats have proven the only thing they stand for is not actually in America. Our tax dollars provide healthcare for a small but violent nation in the ME.

The Rs don’t have one and it should be a losing issue for them. So the Ds need to say what they want to do in a compelling, populist way - regardless of the merit of Cuban’s thoughts. Otherwise health care will be a losing issue for Rs and Ds.

Not really. Practically speaking, from an electoral perspective, it’s easier to build a coalition behind ‘no’ than it is behind any particular ‘yes.’ Outrage people about the status quo so they vote the bums out and then make the sausage after you win. Politics 101.

Of course Cuban wants to break up the insurance monopolies that won’t allow their customers to get access to CostPlus. I’ve tried. Unsuccessfully. CostPlus needs access to private insurance patients to profitably scale.

Why would it be up to Dems to offer any new solutions right now? Trump and his minions aren’t set on destroying healthcare and deregulating us back the dark ages…. But the problem is that Dems aren’t coming up with novel alternatives?

Murcs law. Only democrats have agency. One would think that the "party of personal responsibility" would have some but no one treats them that way so they don't act like it. See Trump spouting conspiracy theories and Kamala "cackling" were treated the same by the media as serious problems.

Why wouldn't you look at their old idea of "universal coverage"? I mean, what novelty do you expect before everyone is covered? Cuban's and Bezos's "discounts for some care I will sell you"?

At this point I’m not sure Cuban has the time to really figure the issue out, since he comes up with a different solution to healthcare every few months but isn’t looking at the core issues. He is more agitated that his pharmacy company keeps getting pushed out by monopolized PMBs.

Since I work in the healthcare spend space, I have to research these ideas to learn they have better alternatives (ex: there are cheaper PBMs because they take smaller commissions) or that a hypothetical solution (ex: trust health insurance such as SAG) only work if the processes are better.

Part of the problem was after the ACA passed there was anecdotal complaints of people losing their doctor. I sometimes think it doesn’t matter what Democrats say it will all be twisted.

Mark Cuban is a rich guy. He knows how to invest to make more money. He knows nothing about health care and has no more expertise in politics than any other outside observer. I really don't care what the thinks.

I keep responding “take a look at Canada” — although our healthcare is tottering on the brink of a disastrous flirtation with two-tier. I’d rather have universal healthcare and long lines than what the US has to endure 🇨🇦

We have provinces that underfund, and it’s been happening for a while. There’s always a push by conservative governments especially to claw back funding, but if Canada’s system proves one thing, it’s that prevention is far cheaper than cures. I don’t know the other systems well enough to comment!

How exactly does one "break up" HCA or Blue Cross/Blue Shield? This is where the self-proclaimed "non-partisan" calls on Democrats to do something legally impossible and then faults them when they don't do it.

Great discussion. Love Cuban’s passion for the subject. The dems at least got millions of people covered by healthcare that were not. We can all see the inefficiency in our current system, but solutions devolve into political fights. Need more people with no dog in the fight pushing politicians

Reagan started when he was convinced not to enforce monopoly laws. Supreme Court made worse by rulings on campaign donations. "Break up the big insurance companies, break up the big hospital networks." Stop money to Congress and stock trading!

Oh, so the billionaire thinks the GOP is 'trying' and Dems are useless? Translation: The GOP offered him a profitable healthcare scheme that the Democrats actually had the morals to turn down.

Medicare4all is out there. This is not rocket science. We have system for the elderly that can be tweaked for the entire country. Not understanding why Cuban hasn’t embrassed what other Democrats have asked for.

I agree with this critique of the Dems but I maintain the GOP hasn’t offered any constructive input in 2 decades. This issue is going to require good faith input across the political spectrum. Chanting “Kill the Bill” or “Medicare for All” won’t cut it.

Unless basic (urgent care level) healthcare and preventive services are available to everybody, there will be no end to the misery. People who make minimum wage have NO access to healthcare unless it is an emergency, often too late and hugely expensive.

Just another idiotic comment from him knowing it took 40 yrs to get ACA with ZERO Republicans…and it was a Republican bill! 30+ yrs ago Hillary tried Universal and got beat down by GQP, Hospitals and insurance companies! Anybody paying attention and blaming Dems are FOS…ACA saved lives🙄

His ideas are not serious and he has too much money to know what it’s like for real people. He refuses to pay more taxes. Refuses ideas that take the profit motive out. Supports keeping my employer tied to my healthcare. That’s a ‘Nope’, Hoss! Negotiations begin at getting employers out!

Mar Cuban is a moron. Every other first world nation has figured this out. Rather than deal in reality that, perhaps there shouldn't be a huge profit motive in determining who lives and who dies. It's a joke that Rs will never grapple with this. We all know why
