This is the first passage of Maggie and Swan's book. Consider the agency it sets up. Democrats. Partisanship. Why not focus on the "irony" that Maggie had done propaganda for the man for years? Why make this about Democrats, rather than her complicity?

The stranglehold the rightwing and far right have on our politics is absurd. Not a single policy or idea that benefits the country. A wild aversion to tax, immigration, NetZero, the EU.. trapping us in a dismal dead-end, unable to make progress for fear of the DailyMail demographic losing its shit.

This is a terrific illustration -- for elected officials but also for media figures -- of the incredible power of simply refusing to take a bullshit dodge for an answer. Keep asking the question, over and over again, and make the weasels squirm.

OSSOFF: Who won the 2020 election? CLAYTON: Uhm, you know, I'm not going to do this with you O: This is a job interview. You have an obligation to be honest with the committee. Who won the 2020 election? C: I'm not gonna get into that with you O: You're not being honest or forthright C: ...

need to start thinking now about a full package of judicial reforms: new justices, new circuits, new district courts, ethics reforms, docket reforms, and transparency reforms.

She's doing this rather than a) forthrightly addressing the actual staff of the news outlets she is ruining & answering their questions or, b) actually doing a good job. She's not capable of either of those. All she's capable of is bullshitting, so that's her answer to this, like everything else.

COLLINS: Who's gonna be in control of the Strait of Hormuz? Who's gonna be in control of that? TRUMP: Uhhhh it'll be jointly controlled COLLINS: By who? TRUMP: Maybe me. Maybe me. Me and the next ayatollah, whoever that is. There will also be a serious form of regime change. Look at Venezuela.

Ellison barely won in 2022 and was the worst performing Dem that year while Simon nearly won by double digits. I don’t know why Ellison deserves it since he’s been a constant underperformer

The people now in charge of the Office of Personnel Management apparently don’t know how to scrub PDF metadata, and have exposed the original authors of the guidance they’re publishing. Two, Noah Peters and James Sherk, have links to the Heritage Foundation and Project 2025.

I dedicated years of my life to reporting on January 6 and exposing what happened. I was there that day, co-wrote a book, and published a series of major stories on my own, for Rolling Stone, and for TPM. I hope it mattered. I hope history will remember and understand what happened.

The rise of fascism in the 1930s led to genocide and a catastrophic world war, but it ultimately ushered in a period of unprecedented peace and prosperity in Europe and North America. Could the same thing happen again?

Just a reminder that in 2019, RFK Jr.'s anti-vaccine misinformation campaign helped cause a measles outbreak in Samoa that killed 83 people, mostly kids. Do you really want him to lead the Department of Health and Human Services?

There is no private person, in the history of US, who has done more to undermine 1st Amendment values & principles than Elon Musk. Kowtowing, pre-capitulation, to this oligarch is so sad, pathetic, and dangerous.

Carol Moseley Braun was the first Black woman elected to the Senate in 1993. Jesse Helms once followed her into the Senate elevator singing "Dixie." He told fellow Senator Orrin Hatch, "I'm going to sing Dixie until she cries." Thinking about that today. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...
