it's gotta be so miserable living like this, man. to not find incredible joy in working with others, to see the discovery that comes from the clashing of different tastes and experiences colliding as an obstacle and not the whole goddamn point of it all.

I appreciate the bar is quite low but this excerpt from an interview with Molyneux about AI is almost too on the nose. Nice anecdote about a colleague he used to respect and enjoy working with, followed by an explanation of how him and everyone like him is now expendable.

I appreciate that people want a new Mass Effect, but the future where fans advocate for the work itself and not the people who make it is the one the vultures at EA want. If you'll take it however you get it, they can keep treating people who make what you love as expendable.

kotaku.comWhat Does It Even Mean To ‘Save’ Mass Effect? - KotakuThousands of fans are rallying around a campaign to save the series after BioWare's shutdown, but what does that look like?

yeh tbh if AI is so great you should be proud of it, you should disclose it everywhere and put a bunch of stickers yourself that you used it for your project showing everyone how cool and cutting edge you are, no? like, it's the future right? you love it right??

I am now three fourths of the way through part one of the new fire emblem and the fact four more of these goddamn parts are coming out next year is absolutely ridiculous to me. This game is like 3 creative decisions away from a fix and it makes it kind of fun and yet frustrating as hell. 1/?

I had written a whole diatribe but I realized halfway through it was going to take a lot longer to untangle those thoughts. And to clarify, the frustration really is because I want to see more. I'm feeling impatient for the plot to advance instead of repeating 4x over.

I think it really comes down to: - too many units - side activities feel woefully unrewarding and hard to do consistently, which exacerbates the last issue. - the campaign is too long and slow, which magnifies the last issue, since even with the length I can't do more with units I do focus on.

in fact, especially in the arts, I would still be anti-AI even in the case where the models create *better* art than humans

Kenney hit the infamous "two billionaires with one post" achievement, remains very rare, also shows once again that money does not equal intelligence, capability, or insight: Kenney is obviously right.

Last I'll post about this, but Elon Musk disagrees with me. This means I am onto something, and I feel more valid in my opinion than ever.

you know how the evil thing in dead space wants to turn all living beings into dead tissue and clump it all together into like a planet-sized mass of undead flesh. well saying "ethical AI is possible" is like saying "hypothetically you could make the big necrotic flesh planet through ethical means"

a cool thing about indie animation is that it's expected to save the entire industry, every show has to look better than the things the fans grew up on or it's a waste of time, there's no union to be found anywhere, no budget for any of it, and asking the audience to pay anything to watch is illegal

Keep thinking about a post I saw that said something like, "The best way to understand your political opponents is to sit down at a table with them and have a conversation." Yeah I did that and here's what I understand now: they swallow and regurgitate propaganda 24/7 and live in another dimension.

"Are you really going to avoid games made with AI at all? Concepts, temp textures, anything?" Yes, I am not entirely sure how you can buy games with confidence in their quality otherwise. The market is competitive, I am not wasting money on inferior products.

Going to my first actual Ren Faire today. Pretty stoked even if I don't have a costume and I'm worried I'll be too exhausted to move by mid afternoon

This is a better epilogue to my January story about the private equity firm profiting off of ICE's cruelest flights than I could have ever possibly hoped for. CHICAGO: You went to the mat and protected (at a minimum!) thousands of immigrants from torture. Take a bow. prospect.org/2026/10/02/i...

prospect.orgThe City That Brought Down an ICE Airline - The American ProspectIn Chicago, progressive alderpeople held up a contract until a private equity firm was forced to dispatch Omni Air International, protecting thousands of immigrants from deportation.

Well they basically destroyed its functionality these past few years to make space for their slop software but I was sad to see they finally got rid of the normal google assistant.

I think I've reached a point where I'm ready to just bite the bullet on the fact that, yes, we should gatekeep art, actually we do not owe you access to the sum total of every single professional creative skill that was extracted from humanity and put into the machine, without our consent

As a lifelong DMC and fan of the direction of Capcom up until recently, Im disappointed by the decision to destroy the credibility of their work and their embrace of AI in their engine workflow. I am no longer comfortable purchasing or supporting Capcom products. It's been a fine run. Rest in piss.

I imagine the way AI has destroyed and scraped dozens of websites and databases and quite literally slowed down the Internet will be remembered historically as a manmade destruction of an ecosystem in the same way that the Dust Bowl is now.

I feel like I have so much I want to say but it’s just this incoherent ramble. But do you know how much it weighs on me to be the one woman on staff at GameSpot? To be one of VERY few women in the industry? To be one of ever fewer moms? To walk into press events and be the *sole* woman?

Re: relevance in the design: I think it's important that if a player invests in a skill or ability in character creation, the first hour should give you a rewarding way to use it. It's sort of the promise we're making to the player. I think Eric Fenstermaker did a great job in Goodsprings w/ this.

Anthony Dungan@thedarkestlink.bsky.social

Slight tangent, but the information gap is definitely a frustration I have with character building in games/Western RPGs. I don't know if I'm gonna enjoy doing X skill or if it'll have relevance in the design. Deus Ex (2000)'s tutorial nailed that information balance for me, though

not to do the 'repost stuff from other sites' thing but a friend sent this to me like YES we need uncosiness in games

Look diesel going up to six bucks a gallon isn't ideal but it would only be a big deal if we were a huge country where the vast majority of our consumer goods, commodities, building materials, and food were transported almost entirely by vehicles that run on it
