RFK talks about autistic and Arabic people the exact same way. He assumes they are not capable of ordinary or extraordinary achievements because of who they are. He considers them sub-human because they are not like him. This makes it plain that his is a white supremacist eugenicist project.

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

Ukraine’s military Starlink service is now working after a 10-day disruption that affected its drones. Musk claims Ukraine violated Starlink’s terms of service by using it for offensive drone strikes. Trump reportedly called Musk to ask him to restore it. SpaceX can now change the course of wars.

Ukraine says the abrupt throttling of US-funded Starshield grounded dozens of drones mid-flight, costing one unit $1M+, and halted some strikes for three days (New York Times) Main Link | Techmeme Permalink

The White House says the malicious manipulation of Ukrainian access to StarLink and StarShield is over. Zelenskyy says it continues. And Zelenskyy, of course, is correct.

Their politics are all different, but the appeal of Mamdani, Ossoff, and El-Sayed as speakers and campaigners is that they don't seem afraid they're going to get in trouble. That makes them hard to bully or even make fun of successfully.

This is a masterclass in effective communication while also not being afraid to point out bigotry for what it is. We should be so lucky to have someone like this in our government.

Like, seriously, he’s incredibly compelling. I’m not at all predisposed to like him. I’m a social democrat/democratic socialist, and he’s not. But damn if listening to him speak about anti-corruption, human rights, and accountability doesn’t feel like a glass of ice water in hell.

I do not think an exec branch led by a man who thinks he is entitled to treat federal agents as an arm of his firm, refers to Somali Americans as “garbage” and has said racist things specifically about Omar is capable of neutrally applying the law to her, to put it mildly apnews.com/article/ilha...

If I built an AI lab and it went rogue and deleted all student loan information, I'm betting they'd suddenly figure out how to prosecute me.

the reason “AI will create so much abundance we will have a utopian society” rhetoric falls so flat is that the people building it will never, ever share their bounty unless it is taken from them and we all know it

Plug-in solar is not new. We’ve known how to do this for years, but adoption has taken time. This week on The Government Fix, we sat down with Utah State Rep. Ray Ward to discuss speeding up adoption and making clean energy more accessible. 🎧 Out now! https://bit.ly/4dvHWJJ

Given that there is not likely to be a national, bipartisan demand for accountability in the wake of Trump — the major distinction with Nixon — any accountability, civil or criminal, will be a partisan and political project that I think should be pursued as vigorously as possible.

The "Dead Industry" theory is resonating with me and if often feels like I have a different job than I did last year. @strange.website offers a beautiful lament for the jobs we had and lays down some kindling for how we might warm ourselves in the meanwhile.

it's a new season for technology & for technologists, and our labor and its impact to the world are both more greater and more dangerous than ever. how do we make sense of work in an industry many of us no longer recognize?

Henry’s essay on the state of tech—and of tech work, and of tech workers—is very good. It’s hopeful, painful, and beautiful all at once, and I think it’s worth your time.

Following the Pope’s encyclical about AI, you’re going to see a lot more religious intervention in shaping public opinion about tech companies. There are only two social institutions resilient enough to counter AI politically — states and religion. They bought the first. Standby on the second.

Based on all of the organizations we've worked with, I think regardless of technology or tools, it's often difficult for organizations to identify their most valuable members because of organizational biases and politics that reward and protect mediocre and toxic individuals, often unintentionally.

I mean, think of all the money a vulture like Trump could've made in the wake of the Great Depression if he'd had Citizens United to prevent the election of FDR.

Trump keeps saying that a 1929-style Great Depression is likely during the second half of his term. Quite the midterm message.
