Inveterate supporter of the Oxford comma. Old enough to remember when Americans were proud to be anti-fascist. Admitted Apple fanboy — don’t judge — but also very pro-Linux.

Why shouldn't Elon pay at least the same tax rate as a surgeon? Is a question you should be hearing more and more

Dom Ervolina@dominicervolina.com

The tax rate for the top 1% needs to be at whatever amount is necessary to prevent anyone from doing this ever again

No, Freedom Summer volunteers didn't take selfies or post tweets -- because that technology hadn't been invented yet. But when they were getting trained in Ohio before going down, they were *all over* the media of their day. Here's a paragraph on it (since cut from my book for space constraints)

"The Jews who went to Mississippi didn't take selfies and post tweets." Okay, but honestly, if tweets had been a thing in 1961, many of them probably would have done.

I just had a scary trip to the local shop. People glowered at me, muttering "Happy now, PHP Boy?". One woman shielded her kids, shrieking "Don't go near the nasty developer, kids". And when I got home, someone had posted a ColdFusion manual through my letter box with a note: "learn to code, loser".

Re the PHP flap today: my Apple Silicon Mac still has an older version of PHP that was auto-migrated from my previous Intel Mac. Since then, macOS has ceased providing PHP. I wonder if Apple will address this somehow, perhaps in a macOS dot-release.

I double-checked this on a couple of Xitter stat sites and it's true. Average views of the main AfD account dropped 90% and average engagement dropped by 60%. This is commercial social media for you: bots, damn bots and Russian bots.

We had to wait for the....NEW YORK POST to write about this. Y'all know there is so much more where this came from but journalists don't want to dig and people are terrified to speak to any journalist seeing the type of reporting they've been doing

A hidden list of 100 abusers in Silicon Valley. Left unstated: some are abusing *men* Sam Altman used to date Peter Thiel, known for recruiting young men for sex (one died of suicide). Sam's sex parties are notorious for how hard they go, and the abuse. Three sources told me about this:

If you’re newly installing Fedora Linux: when prompted afterward to do the usual updates, **don’t** use the GUI method. Instead, open a terminal window and use `sudo dnf upgrade --refresh`. The GUI method currently has some glitches that popped up recently.

Safely upgraded to macOS 27 and iOS 27. Next up: iPadOS 27. So far, loving what I’m seeing, and it seems to confirm the vast majority of what beta-testers have been reporting (positively) for the last three months.

Contrary to what you might see on @distrowatch.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy , a Fedora-based distro called RakuOS is getting almost daily ISO updates — and a growing amount of attention because it seems to resolve many issues that plague atomic and immutable distros. Worth a look, IMHO. rakuos.org
