Beyond disgusted by even more rape allegations against the President of the United States. "In total, more than 25 different women...have independently accused Donald Trump of rape, sexual assault, or other sexual misconduct." Report w/ new details: democrats-judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-su...
Translation: "The dean dodged the rules that protect students from sexual predation to forewarn me that the level of coercion I was comfortable with in a relationship (unacceptably high) needed to be hidden better. And I realized sexually coercive rule breaking could, in theory, have consequences.😱"

The elections are on next Tuesday, and so much is at stake, including the soul of the Democratic Party when it comes to transgender people. I am asking you to leave a very small number of races blank in which a Democrat has embraced extreme anti-trans hate. I make my case here.

Another evil layer to this ad from Josh Turek: When he turns to say "stop the nonsense from both extremes," he opens with a clip of Rep. Becca Balint, the first openly gay woman to represent Vermont in congress and one of the few openly gay members of congress.
Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC - @electdemocrats.bsky.social) is running anti-trans ads now, so I don't know how you can say the party itself isn't embracing transphobia. There are still some good Dems out there, but transphobia is apparently a party value.

www.nbcnews.com/politics/202... Mamdani's landslide victory can be entirely accounted for by the fact that queer people - who vote overwhelmingly left-wing - turned out at twice the rate of everyone else. But sure, throw trans people under the bus, see where that gets you.
"Trans people are a tiny group with no power" This isn't true, and I hope my trans readers can internalize this. You are more powerful than you think. Trans and gender expansive people are 2.34% of the US population in the latest survey. That is more than enough to swing a race.

It's only socialism when you tax the wealthy & use it to fund services for the poor & middle class. Otherwise, it's just sparkling kleptocracy! Related: Family farmers have made more take-home income than non-farmers every single year since 1997. Yes, that's AFTER farm debts & expenses.
As his policies bankrupt them, Trump-supporting farmers fully embrace socialism. But only if it’s for them.

The most insulting part of it that these people want to eat their cake and sell it too. It's not enough for them to insist that the party has to trade trans votes and lives for mythical moderate conservative votes. They will also throw a tantrum about this not being allowed to cost them votes.
As someone is part of that 2%, fuck that. I want people to defend my rights, not throw me under the bus in their supposed “fight against fascism” ie “fight to uphold the increasingly regressive system that enforced a narrowing idea of normalcy.”

Trumpism has succeeded because his side draws up a passionate core and supplements it with gigantic media presence. There is no alternative to this. Goody-two-shoes "let's participate in democracy together" crap goes nowhere. You can only defeat fascist power with progressive power. /end

It's interesting what positions get equated with "start from nothing, year-0 revolution", right? I mean the actual position this person is addressing is the possibility that the Dem-right fumbles another administration and helps lay the groundwork for the next Republican win. Is that outlandish?
It turns out that choosing the lesser of two evils is, in fact, a moral imperative. And some folks want to wait for the Revolutionary Perfect, but I would equally challenge them to demonstrate a single time where a 'start from nothing, year-0' revolution has turned out well for most people.

Once mass spam texts were made legal, younger donors vanished, leaving a grassroots fundraising machine that subsists on squeezing vulnerable seniors, some of whom give hundreds of times a day. It’s a horrific model. Consultants get generationally wealthy, and the party hollows out its future.
We found that as of right now 73% of your campaign donation goes back to the consultants and vendors (!!!), four times more than just 20 years ago. Only 13% to ads. Even I was shocked.

the right doesn't reject empathy entirely, they selectively deploy it. when a white person is murdered by an immigrant, for example, they will call upon your empathy. but empathy directed at their enemies is cast aside as toxic.
are those separate things though? that rejection of empathy/ embrace of cruelty is part of their intellectual worldview. goes along with the "how dare my kids reject me" thing because it's about domination.

this remains a great study of the estranged parents movement, and one of the almost universal features of these narratives is the missing missing reasons--the extreme caginess with which these parents present the events that led to the estrangement
The other category of coverage is *extremely* implausible first-person accounts from estranged parents. According to this woman, her son cut her off after she was mildly rude to his fiance's family a single time. There's no way this is the entire story. www.goodhousekeeping.com/relationship...
