This is just nuts.

Trump's affordability message: "You could even come to Mar-a-Lago. You'll be my guest. The problem is that for $5,000 the most you'll be able to buy is a hamburger and maybe a small dessert. I'm not even sure you could buy that! No, don't go there. It's not a good place if you're price conscious."

Sure, but whether he was officially onboarded is a footnote to the real crime of dismantling USAID: USAID was/is a statutorily mandated agency, and the executive branch cannot dismantle a statutorily mandated agency without an act of Congress

WIRED@wired.com

Despite the agency's human resources department saying he hadn’t even been onboarded, Jeremy Lewin oversaw the destruction of USAID. It’s not clear he had the legal authority to do so.

I really think everyone needs to pay attention to this coordinated campaign to delegitimize Muslim Americans - not just as citizens but as humans. These increasingly hysterical attacks are a prelude to Republicans bringing us to a very, very dark place after the election.

The Founding Fathers are rolling in their graves with these lies in service of an unconstitutional war that Congressional Republicans have let happen by abdicating their Article I powers.

TRUMP: “We didn’t start the war with Iran." LIAR! You illegally started the war on February 28 by assassinating Iran's Supreme Leader without Congressional approval. You even gave it a name: Operation Epic Fury. You said it would take 4–6 weeks. It’s been 8 months.

Not that long ago, three major lower-court rulings against the executive branch on three unrelated topics would’ve been a busy *month,* and outlets would’ve rushed to write up such a run of adverse rulings. Now, it doesn’t feel unusual when we get three on the same *day.* It’s all … exhausting.

And we know Trump is a stickler about proper handling of national security information…

Federal prosecutors have brought new charges against former FBI Director James B. Comey, accusing him of mishandling national security information in October 2016, according to court papers unsealed on Monday. More: storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Trump is BIG MAD about Obama saying the White House now looks like Saddam opened a Cheesecake Factory: "He's not a smart guy. He's not smart at all ... for you to say it's a Cheesecake Factory, that just shows why you were a lousy president"

David S. Bernstein @dbernstein.bsky.social

You really need to work hard to be the most obsequious member of Trump’s cabinet — by, for instance, eating lunch at Cheesecake Factory and alerting Fox Business, so they can interview you in defense of Obama’s joke about the White House decor. Well done Secretary Bessent! Your move, Doug Burgum!

We have a lot of other, more important issues at the moment, but one thing I hope we as a society can remedy once Trump exits the stage is the normalization of our leaders cursing in public Sure, we all swear time and again (or more), but there's a time and place

What’s remarkable here isn’t just the sentiment, which is obviously weird and depressing, but that a media trained executive who has been doing interviews for decades thought this was an anecdote that would land well.

Rally speaker: "Mike Rogers is an American. Abdul has a birth certificate. The birth certificate says he's a citizen of America. You know what? a birth certificate doesn't make you an American."

We've reached the point of the "end birthright citizenship" campaign where people are calling for it full-throatedly while the president stands next to them and nods approvingly A political movement that holds as one of its main pillars the overturning of the 14 Amendment is anti-democratic

*14th Amendment Also, my point is not that wanting to violate the 14th Amendment is new for Trump et al., but that it's typically been directed at the children of undocumented immigrants while here it is stated as a bolder, more wide-reaching "blood and soil" statement that applies to anyone
