A developer made a browser extension called "Knockoff" that shows what a wasteland Amazon truly is by filtering out brands like "GODONLIF" "EHEYCIGA," ROTTOGOON," and sponsored products. Useful and illustrative even if you don't use Amazon www.404media.co/knockoff-bro...

404media.co'Knockoff' Browser Extension Hides Sketchy Brands on Amazon"Sorry to brands like WNPETHOME, EHEYCIGA, YXYL, LU&MN, JOYIN, TOMY, GODONLIF, YOOJEE, LINGTENG, LANEIGE, VISCOO, BIODANCE, COOFANDY, BALENNZ, TOSY, and LUENX."

Xbox announcing another 3200 layoffs today cements them as an irredeemable brand. Mass layoffs are already evil, but doing it NOW is not something you come back from in my eyes. Fuck you and fuck your stakeholders.

Was browsing this on walmart and saw this lovely disclaimer. I love the immediate contradiction between "we aim to show you accurate product information" and "we have not verified it".

see the thing is, only executives think in terms of “creative control” because they’re trying to control it creators think in terms of CREATING, which AI does not do

I've been a broken record on this for three years and I'll be a broken record for as long as that fucking website exists: X is a viciously racist far-right organising platform that ONLY WORKS because a huge number of centrists, lefties and progressivs cannot stop propping it up

hey maybe privatizing everything isn't a super great idea

So, do you want better social trust? Or do you want to lock away more benefits behind a padlock? Fucking ghouls

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Ferguson: "Just this weekend, I was shopping at a big home improvement store to buy a drill. I had to hit a call button and wait 15 minutes for an associate to unlock a padlock. Social trust has evaporated and people are taking advantage of it, and the same is true of our federal benefit programs."

i think, end of the day, the real problem with Bluesky is that most of its users are here *because* they want to be in a bubble. and they can tell themselves that it’s just about not being around Nazis it supporting Musk, and that’s part of it, but also there’s a palpable desire to be ensconced.

multiple things can be true at once: 1) there shouldn't be billionaires 2) since there ARE, it's interesting to see one spending money on being an ocean nerd in the name of science, instead of feeding us to machines and destroying democracy 3) valve's 30% cut of steam sales is too high

So, to sum up, a couple of days ago Christina Koch became the first woman to see Earth in its entirety, and today – right now, in fact – she is the first woman to see the Moon up close, and the first woman to see the far side. 🥹
