Major press failure: treating Jared Kushner taking foreign bribes and shaping US foreign policy as less relevant than Hunter Biden not taking bribes nor influencing policy. Covering Kushner accurately was considered partisan, biased. Lies about Hunter or his minor actions treated as more important.

I don’t think we should get used to a man this wealthy, this full of hate and this willing to demonize a small minority having so much power in our economy and in our politics. To defend democracy, we must defeat the oligarchs.

The minute Dems gain any power at all, watch them descend like locusts, hyping an endless series of fake scandals fed to them by the same RW slop machine that's been playing them for fools for decades. They can't wait.

The political media is visibly chafing at the current situation, where Republicans are glaringly awful, fucking everything up, running deviant candidates everyone hates, and Dems are just being normal & winning. The force is out of balance. They are viscerally eager to go after Dems about something.

Three moments broke Trump 2.0: 1) Kimmel and other attempted censorship after Charlie Kirk. Made public see the attack on speech. 2) Minnesota anti-ICE protests, Goode and Pretti killings. Made public see the attack on rights. 3) Iran war. Made public see bad foreign policy affects them directly.

Brazilians beat back fascism by... voting harder? Organized offline and online around an election, using a mix of strategies aimed at both turnout and persuasion. Showed up in large numbers, and despite some very wealthy interests arrayed against them, succeeded? Huh. Pretty neat how that works.

See? There is no secret “defeat fascism once and for all” belief system. You just do the work, every election. Far left, center left, it doesn’t matter. Learn the lesson: Stop pretending you’re special and just fucking vote for Democrats.

Lula has been reelected president, Brazilian media has now called. An extraordinary comeback for the left-wing politician who trailed by 2 points in round 1 but managed to hold off Flávio Bolsonaro, the former president's son.

In 1964, blue collar support for the dems peaked at 80%. After that, the dems pushed civil rights through, it dropped to 47% in 1968, then 38% in 1972. The workers left the dem party because the dem party first fought for civil rights for black people, then women, then latinos and then queers.

Dave Strock@davestrock.bsky.social

People don't vote to punish. That's just not a thing in the head of anyone but people making excuses. The Dems have overseen decades of policies that saw workers increasingly abandoned for the PMC who were allowed to take over the remaining institutions. Dems were either complicit or incompetent

With 83% of the vote counted nationwide, Lula has stretched his lead to 2.8 million votes. That's a lead of 51.4% to 48.6%. That puts him on track for a victory that could be larger than his 1.8% win four years ago, which would be an immense comeback. He's even up in Minas Gervais now, by 0.6%.

Lula has taken the overall, countrywide lead back. With 62% of precincts counted, he is ahead 50.6% to 49.4%, which is an edge of roughly 900,000 votes. He is also getting the shift he needs (compared to the first round) in virtually every state that has reported most of the vote.
