"When the facts change I change my mind with them, pray tell what's your policy sir?" seems like a pwn by Keynes, but judging by the way many in our press talk about Brexit and Rejoining they would simply have no shame whatsoever in responding "I never update my opinion, and if you do you are evil".

Stop anthropomorphizing AI. Only humans “hallucinate” or “make mistakes”.

Turning Point UK do not appear to have engaged at all with their chief executive offering to organise for cash a violent beating or a murder by UVF paramilitaries. They did post: "violence in Britain only comes from the left"

Other people who would have increased that number: F. Nightingale (Italy), R. Kipling (India), J.R.R. Tolkein (dutch South Africa), T.S. Eliot (USA), R.E. Grant (Eswatini), Emma Watson (France) etc. But that's clearly not what they are unhappy about - they use "foreign born" to launder plain racism.

Fwiw this includes me (a British citizen but born abroad), my Norwegian midwife partner, and two of my three children. Nice to know that The Times thinks we are undesirable but has watched “helplessly” as we lived in London.

What film has the most of these? Pusher (1996) hits 3 and spiritually has 3 more of them. No microphone feedback though.

A fun and surprising fact is that there is actually plenty of water for human habitation in the southwest! In fact, Phoenix peaked in water use in the 1970s even though its population has exploded, because converting farmland to housing or industrial uses SAVES tons of water bsky.app/profile/jdba...

Reading books on climate change as I’ve been doing for like over 20 years now it is so infuriating for this very reason. All of the science is there and widely acknowledged that the southwest is like the worst place in our country for what’s coming and we just keep building and growing there

Renting films on Google Play/YouTube. They always have missing subtitles or quality issues and I do it anyway

What’s your ‘that’s ok, I’ll keep drinking that garbage’ product? As in: it is bad, you know it is bad, think it is bad that is bad, do not anticipate it becoming good, you do have to buy it, and you know you will also continue to purchase it into the indefinite future?

Drawing! Art in general isn't too bad tbh but drawing needs like 20£/€/$ for top of the line stuff

Hello, aspiring actor. This is your agent. I’ve got a great opportunity for you to be in a film with Robert Pattinson. Now, there is one small thing we need to discuss regarding the role

The megaphone given to an extreme-right framing of this incident by supposedly centrist politicians is a gift to their harder right political competitors

New from me: Until recently, the gap between comfortably-off and just-getting-started could plausibly be crossed in a decade or two of hard work. Growth in asset prices means that’s no longer true: even a lifetime of striving doesn’t offer a realistic prospect of feeling you’ve “made it”.

Really terrible rankings, although I guess Vanilla is better than most of the others listed since it isn't actively bad.

YouGov@yougov.co.uk

YouGov's latest scoop: vanilla is Britain's favourite ice cream flavour Vanilla: 18% Mint choc chip: 14% Chocolate: 13% Strawberry: 5% Salted caramel: 5% Rum and raisin: 5% Pistachio: 4% Coffee: 3% Raspberry ripple: 3% yougov.com/en-gb/articl...

When Dems get back in power they have got to stop these gas powered DCs. Easiest layup in the world - I'm surprised they're not out there loudly warning that it's not going to payoff with them in power whatever happens to the tech market more broadly.

WSJ: banks lining up financing for a $15bn data center project with 1.6GW of behind-the-meter gas generation capacity. $GOOGL to provide guarantees on Anthropic leases because the chips will be TPUs as well as a 20% equity stake.

I think the Stancil discourse matters mainly because we have to find a way to make relative wage increases for the bottom 1/3 of the distribution palatable to popular politics.

His approach is obviously not winning anyone over. Subsidising delivery food and petrol might work but is awful slopulism. Same with most housing cost interventions.

Given the implicit factory farming analogy, I'll assume everyone upset about this is vegan as well

No longer content with pillaging intellectual work and dismembering our environment (already critically weakened), AI companies are now hellbent on destroying books galore including rare editions. Shut down these nefarious enterprises already.
