“Cyclists are often perceived as recklessly flaunting road laws. A new study challenges this perception. The study found only 5% of cyclists broke road rules while riding on bike infrastructure versus 66% of motorists who broke rules while driving.”
Safe bike infrastructure fuels rule-following.
People who think embracing GOP hatred of trans people is the only way for Democrats to win in that part of the country should remember that in 2025, John Ewing became the first Black mayor of Omaha NE by running this ad. He beat Republican incumbent Jean Stothert by 12 points.
Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet.
Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well.
Horrific.
I voted. Well, I filled out my ballot and signed it. I'll drop it off at the ballot box tomorrow.
I had cake and tea and lots of open pamphlets and websites. It took about two hours.
I can't imagine doing this at a polling place.
No photos because ballots are secret.
There was a fucking hole in our planet’s *atmosphere*
Like a legit, no joke, “this will unravel our entire ecosystem” hole in the world, and then we fixed it by working together across national and political lines
As a species we decided, “we will survive”
Let’s do that some more

This is not beautiful to see.
This is the most racist democracy on planet earth, and people just expect Black people to sing negro spirituals and "overcome."
It's not working.
This still happens for one reason and one reason only: white US folk don't hold each other accountable for this racism.
Ballots will be dropping in your mailboxes this week! We’ve completed incorporating and hand-checking the endorsements of all but a handful of our endorsing organizations, and we’ve improved our site for you.
If you're wondering why Flock leaves cameras up after a contract end, part of their business model and marketing strategy is being able to advertise that their customers can access data from cameras all over the country. You may have canceled your contract, but the cameras still fuel the system.
“A college in Illinois tried to cancel its Flock contract—Flock refused to take its cameras down so Elgin Community College covered them. The company snuck back to uncover them”

We do notice when ICE shoots 2 innocent white people. We will spend months talking about it. Rightfully so.
We don't notice when cops shoot two innocent Black people *a day*.
No one even notices that the total amount of fascist state killings in the US have gone down under Trump relative to Biden.
Do you want the City Traffic Engineer to be able to implement safety improvements on all streets in our city without having to beg historic boards for permission?
You should send this letter to the Pioneer Square Preservation Board asking them to support letting the traffic engineer do their job.
So, historically, men have used the privilege afforded to them by patriarchy to push the "unprofitable" work of care onto women, making it easier for them to hoard the more profitable (and thus higher-status) work for themselves. And companies encouraged this, because it meant more profits for them.
FYI, this is happening because WSF is refusing to even give engineers a cost of living adjustment in their next contract. The salary they mention here just happens to be the highest out of six.
Also, it's illegal to not give them sick leave. It's not a flex!

i actually don't find this moral panic of a story funny bc i can see exactly where it will go:
—"intolerent lesbians harm the masculine raw dogging of air"
—"controlling bitches"
—"disability accomodations = oppression"
—"why are transwomen allowed in lesbian bars but not unmasked cis women?"
Mass lesbian bar masking story is getting Oberlin cafeteria levels of coverage, meaning it will define reactionary and reactionary-fearing centrist politics for the next 15 years

The truth was that if United Health had an AI that was accepting a shitload of claims with a 90% error rate, United Health would stop using the AI in about 0.2 seconds.
This story buries the lede, but if you pull out a calculator and do the math, AAA found that the average American spends $15,031 a year for a single car!

The Onion has created a machine that will kill everyone on Earth that is coincidentally running out of money and the only way to slow it down is if my staff and I take a six-week vacation to Cabo San Lucas.
p.s. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that all of this acceleration in the hype is a reaction to the succesful and broadening opposition to their wasteful, polluting, noisy data centers.
