The NDP botched the pro-rep referendum, and have refused to bring in a voting system that would mean B.C. never sees a conservative majority again. Their last pitch to voters is not how they’ll make life better, but the (painfully obvious) threat that conservatives will make it worse. #bcpoli
Supporters of the BC NDP and the Green Party share a lot of the same values. Strong public health care, protecting the place we call home, and asking the wealthiest to chip in more to build a stronger B.C.

Looking forward to @ptfry.bsky.social making similar posts about all the road safety stuff he’s gonna bring to Vancouver! Cameras are out of jurisdiction here, but there’s lots you can do 😉
If they wanted an easier time in legislature, they should have run a better election last time.
I've chatted with a few NDP MLAs and staffers on this, and they were truly and honestly stressed about how often they had late night procedural wrangling and votes where the government could have been defeated The problem is, I'm not sure anyone outside of NDP family members cares in the slightest

The BC NDP intentionally torpedoed the referendum on getting rid of FPTP precisely so they could stay in power through this exact type of fear mongering. And this is especially fucking rich coming from a guy who couldn't even think clearly before calling an election.

Harrison Hot Springs rejected both the toxic Facebook group people, but also their main enemy the last decade. Kamloops got rid of their mayor, but also the councillors that feuded most passionately with him. North Vancouver District got rid of the lady who tried to ban pigeons.

Please Council, can we get some car-free trick-or-treating streets like NYC? Brian Montague: No, we have car-free trick-or-treating streets at home! www.youtube.com/shorts/OZDNP...

“While we want to make sure that pedestrians and cyclists are safe on our streets, we also [...]" - What a way to start a sentence. Lisa Dominato has truly been the biggest disappointment of the entire ABC party.
This is a strawman from Dominato; no one at Vision Zero wants to abolish roads. But we're curious to know, when she says "we have to strike a balance", what's her acceptable number of deaths on our roads?

Reallocating some road space is a broadly popular move that just makes sense. Unless it's election time in which case never mind, it's radical Pete Fry's anti-car agenda. Let's vote these liars out.
Does reallocating 11% of road space make sense? Depends on which ABC candidate you ask... And when you ask them. youtu.be/1zMJaKURCiM

A police department changing its press release AFTER THE FACT is a very, very, very serious matter - not least when it publicly attacked the journalist who reported its original contents. There are questions to answer here.
NEW: Behind the Vancouver Police distortion of hate crime statistics The VPD "altered their posted press release after the publication of my story, and added a new, more accurate graphic that aligned closer to the data obtained via FOI" @brishti.bsky.social www.policeoversight.ca/p/behind-the...

All this. And what's more, the VPD's own data show that in 2022, when they were on a moral panic crusade about crime under Kennedy Stewart, Vancouver had actually seen the biggest 4-year drop in crime of any time period on this chart.
Today, the Vancouver Police Department issued a release saying "when it comes to the perception of public safety, the facts matter." In 2020, when the crime rate in the city was down, Vancouver Police Department Chief Adam Palmer argued that feelings mattered as much as facts.

While the debate over traffic calming is grabbing the headlines, Ken Sim has also proposed a much more profound—and destructive—change to the way that we plan our streets, notes Ruofan Wang.

Last year I tried to make Vancouver’s streets car-free for Halloween, but ABC blocked it due to their "zero means zero" budget freeze. If I’m reelected, I’ll bring this back. Kids deserve a safe, fun Halloween!

Mayor Sim calls for 'safe streets', but has done almost nothing to stop deaths like that of the pedestrian killed by a driver at Granville and 52nd this week. If you are a Vancouverite who worries for your family's safety and that of your fellow citizens, vote OneCity + COPE. Evict Ken Sim.
Vehicle crashes are a significant source of preventable injury and death in Vancouver, and traffic-related fatalities have skyrocketed under ABC, who have taken no meaningful steps to improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists, seniors, and schoolchildren. We can change that.
