From a book written by Colin Meloy, leader of the Decembrists, inspired by trips with his son to Forest Park above Portland OR.

Wildwood, the new film from the animation pioneers at Laika, is the longest stop-motion feature yet made, w/ voice performances from Carey Mulligan, Tom Waits, Mahershala Ali, Richard E. Grant & more. Not for little kids--it's scary & violent as hell--but a genuine dazzler. slate.com/culture/2026...

Thread. For October, it seems most of our city council has decided to become fucking ghouls.

The first comment at today's public hearing and vote on Dan Strauss' plan to ban RVs in Seattle, restricting them to two-hour parking, is from someone who owns an RV he and his wife travel in. He wants an exemption for RVs parked on the street at the residence where they're registered.

Can’t stop thinking about this. Not just bc it’s such an abhorrent idea but also this is THE GUY that’s trying to pitch America on AI writ large and he’s so blind to the public interest he thought this was somehow appealing

TRUMP GOON: [ tells stupid obvious lie ] INTERVIEWER: You’re lying, you know you’re lying, I know you’re lying, and you know I know you’re lying. Why do you do this? Is it some kind of sick dominance trip? (This imaginary interview brought to you by “Things That Will Never Happen.”)

The South African trust-fund billionaire wockaflocka brought in to gut our country's infrastructure, whose cuts to aid have already killed a half-million children, is now offering $100-million to make an all-white remake of a movie. This is all totally normal and whatnot.

anyone who works in the public sector or government knows this - nobody can keep a secret, a significant portion of us are shockingly incompetent and none of us are paid nearly enough to care if (insert thing here) hits critical mass

the problem with conspiracies is they require a LOT of people to stay quiet about incredibly juicy things. always a tough sell. and in the attention economy? impossible.

WSJ’s Josh Dawsey got to see unreleased footage from years of a documentarian’s inside access to Lindsey Graham. It’s filled with giddy, war-hungry stuff like this: (Gift link below)

I was just driving across the Ballard Bridge… Behind three people on Lime scooters. One big downside of the easy access to these things is people who have never bothered to learn the rules of the road as it pertains to bikes/scooters, using them in VERY unsafe ways.

I would rather elect a robot programmed to side with AMR on every issue than elect half the humans on the Council.

Olraca@olraca.bsky.social

Here is AMR dissenting over the false dichotomy of providing school meals for kids. These are the sources that the more tenured city councilmembers funded this year - Graffiti abatement: $4.1M - Unified Care Team (homeless sweeps): $30M - Real time crime center funding for Axon CCTV cameras): $4.9M

I mean, yeah, a fuck-ton of people would love to see him cry.

Trump: "The Democrats are gonna terminate the filibuster as soon as they have a chance and then they're gonna approve DC and Puerto Rico as states. They get 4 more senators, 12 more congressmen, like 40 electoral votes ... you don't want to see me cry."

Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman said he would leave the Democratic Party if it formally adopted a platform opposing US aid to Israel, calling such a move a "red line" following a House vote on legislation that sought to eliminate assistance to the Jewish state. www.jpost.com/american-pol...

One of the arguments against funding universal school meals in Seattle now is "the money may run out and we'll have to yank the program in 3 years." What's baffling to me about that argument is that the council funds things with literal ONE-TIME money all the time. This is an ongoing tax source!

An entire personality rooted in "YOU'RE NOT THE BOSS OF ME ANYMORE, MOM!" Hey, Eric, the government says you shouldn't idle an old car in your garage with a tube running from the exhaust pipe into your mouth either. Why don't you go stick it to those nosy liberals? Show them who's in charge!

MAGA cultist Eric Metaxas was outraged by seeing an air quality alert triggered by the Canadian wildfires that suggested people limit outdoor activity: "How dare they say that. Who has the right to tell me or you or anyone anything? It's a free country. I can do whatever I want."
