Amplify your people. Ignore them.

Rafa Sales Ross@rafiews.com

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

“How much time do you think this defense secretary spends looking in the mirror in the morning? These are not serious people” — Obama’s audience in Ohio is hanging on every word as he skewers Trump and Hegseth

Blanche had a very different view of that rule when he represented Trump.

Q: The typical practice is DOJ doesn't usually release charges this close to an election. Even though Ms Lucas isn't on the ballot, her daughter is. Can you speak to the timing? BLANCHE: The 60 day or 90 day practice is not in writing. That's not part of the justice manual. There's nothing improper

I wanted to demonstrate to someone who is using GenAI to "unblur" hidden handles that they.....cannot do this. But also a fun demonstration of how GenAI always returns **ANY** answer instead of returning "ERROR: This software cannot do that" A design choice by greedy little tech goblins

Insane how Russian govt and state media say for years Ukraine's not a real country, gonna take it all, it's so unfair that E. Europeans think they can elect their own leaders, while US leaders (Trump, Rubio) go c'mon, it's just over a bit of land, doesn't Russia deserve something for its aggression.

Jim Broderick (η sandwich) reposted

Fine. Illegal aggression. Fine. War crimes. Fine. Kidnapping children fine. Destroying infrastructure. Fine. Threatening the security of all of Europe. Fine. All of it is fine. As usual with Trump, the criminals are protected, even advocated for. It's the victims who are condemned and abandoned.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "Russia, frankly, has been fine on Ukraine. They haven't been doing much."

ICE has notified me of another death that has occurred in their custody. This is the 59th death under Trump’s second term. We cannot allow this to continue. We need justice for ICE’s abuse, and we must completely eliminate this broken for-profit system.

Ukraine actually STOPPED hitting refineries after Trump announced his fake ceasefire, as a show of good faith. Russia kept attacking anyway. And Trump claims Russia is doing “very little” to help Iran, even though multiple officials have testified that Russia is actively helping Iran. 2/2

Update: WE ARE BACK IN! We can post again. This was utter bullshit on the biggest early vote effort in history. But it will not stop what we're building. No Kings means no kings in the White House or in Silicon Valley.

Ezra Levin ❌👑@ezralevin.bsky.social

Update: about 4 hours later and we still don't have admin access so we still can't post to the No Kings instagram account. This isn't slowing down the the 3,000+ early vote events today. We will drive the biggest early vote in history. But this should be a flashing alarm about what's to come.

I know America. I know that, in America, we believe in a country big enough for all of us. So, JD Vance, don't you dare come from Ohio to lecture me. You don't know a damn thing about America.

If the settlers will do this to an American journalist on camera, in broad daylight, imagine what Palestinian families face when no one is watching. Those responsible for this attack must be held accountable.

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

Masked Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian villagers on Friday, setting olive groves on fire and slinging rocks. Caught in the attack was Post photographer Heidi Levine. “They just kept kicking me and kicking me, like probably 50 times,” Levine said. https://wapo.st/4yt6dHY

Wouldn’t Supreme Court expansion destroy public confidence in the Court, perhaps fatally? If you think that anti-democracy Republicans are the only people who matter, then yes. If value the opinion of Americans who support democracy and rule of law, the opposite. It would raise public confidence.

David Brooks pearl-clutching over John Ossoff calling a white nationalist a “white nationalist,” as if the problem with violent white nationalism is people objecting to it, illustrates this point as well as humanly possible.

Nicholas Grossman@nicholasgrossman.bsky.social

Ossoff is acting like Trump/MAGA/GOP and what they’ve done to the country is Actually Bad. Charismatic and well spoken, which sure helps. But no “my friends across the aisle,” no acting like the imaginary “Baileys” are the only ones who matter, no “don’t talk values, only kitchen table.” That’s it.

Over the last decade, there were two hypotheses: H1: the political right genuinely cared about threats to speech from the left. H2: they were using campus speech wars to impose their values and silence dissent. Today, the answer is clear, but I can't find any of the H1 people admitting their error.

After years of championing "free speech," Texas lawmakers have enabled a dramatic rise of censorship in Texas universities, banning concepts, canceling courses and closing departments seen as "woke," and even using AI bots as censors. All in the name of freedom. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1...
