My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Hired in college to cold call for a consultant who didn’t want to do it himself. I didn’t want to do it either. When I told him I was quitting at the end of day two, he said “Yeah, I was gonna fire you.”

It's worth noting that this isn't a random number but a goal that would simply restore the court to an earlier norm in which there's one justice for each of the judicial circuits. We used to have nine, we now have thirteen. The people defending the current setup have the tougher case to make here.

The basic assertion in the OP is just wrong. No one smokes on airplanes any more. E-tickets are a major improvement over paper. Airplane food is much, much better. Airports are cleaner, and have better shops. Air travel sucks in many ways. It does not suck worse than it did 50 years ago.
