As I flail around a bit... Is there anyone out there who would really value a fairly decent set of original Vampire: the Requiem books? I have not cracked the covers of these things in years, and my packrat instincts are problematic, and it'd help if I could sell them to someone who'll love them.

The Babylon 5 fans will probably find this description amusing. RIP

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

So treating Chytrid in the wild is surprisingly easy. If you build a sauna, the frogs will seek it out. They sit inside until it gets too hot for them, and then they leave. No other treatments are required

"average person knows 3 guitar chords" factoid actualy just statistical error. average person knows 0 guitar chords. Guitar Georg, who doesn't want to make it cry or sing and knows all the chords, is an outlier adn should not have been counted

Sagaz Syl … it works

Krrsantan came before my own naming procedure for starwars characters, where I looked at the shelf of boardgames in front of me, and took the first syllable from one boardgame, and add it to the first from a second game, and that's their first name. Their surname is the first syllable from a third.

This. One of my favorite games is Katamari Damacy. An LLM could never have created that.

maybe i'm old fashion but the coolest thing about video games is being taken to new worlds that i hadn't thought up and experiencing something exciting that the artists behind the game want to show me

I appreciate recipes that give me useful metrics: Cook, stirring, until the mixture is so thick that the spatula can stand in the middle without falling over

In my time in the CCG mines, I did the equivalent — write little descriptions of what we wanted, which went to the art director who hired an artist to do it, and eventually I’d see the result This did not make me an artist.

Nearly every dictionary defines art as the use of one's skills to express one's imagination. If I produce AI art of "a cat in a Santa hat," I've used my writing skills in order to express a concept from my imagination. So, the result is art by definition. You are simply incorrect.

It didn’t even make me a collaborator, and I was doing a lot more creative work around this process than some dude who prompts an LLM. But commissioning is way closer to what prompt dude is doing, except there was an actual human involved, not just shaking the vector math to see what falls out.

LOOK AT THIS FUCKING SHIT. The easiest way to tell that trans women are women is that the right is so desperate to control what they do with their bodies. WE HAVE EVERYTHING IN COMMON.

I just honestly can't get over that Save Women Sports, an anti-trans group could only find five trans athletes competing K through 12. Five. The NCAA president testified a year and a half ago or so that there were less than 10 college level trans athletes. What the fuck are we doing, people

We're back. The Power Fantasy returns on December 9th, carefully timed to be just after everyone has wrapped their comics of the year lists, so making folks go "Oh - wait, they did those banger two issues in January and February and I forgot, never mind."

Good grief, thanks to a video on Instagram, I've just discovered that the Criterion edition of Lone Wolf & Cub (that I've had on my shelf for about 9 years) has a secret compartment in the spine containing the blueprint for the weaponised babycart..!

Anyone I know bought a TV recently and has a recommendation or an anti-recommendation? (We are not planning to spend a lot, but also don’t need to cheap out. Still, OLED is not for us)

Good thread that goes into how the “chatbots going rogue” thing actually happens.
