Bolsonaro's loss is not just a loss for Bolsonaro. It's a loss for Trump. For Musk. For Milei. For Netanyahu. For Farage. For Meta and Zuckerberg. For the meat barons, the fossil fuel corporations, and the rest of the neocolonial looters. And it is a massive win for humanity and the living planet.

This needs to be pursued. “The Eye asked Houchen what parliamentary work he had performed on a sample of ten dates for which he claimed the full allowance since early 2025 (linked to all of which he had claimed travel and hotel expenses from TVCA). He did not respond.”

Since his ennoblement in Boris Johnson’s 2023 resignation list, Tees Valley regional mayor Lord (Ben) Houchen has claimed more than £25,000 in tax-free daily “attendance” allowances from the House of Lords for 73 days when he hasn’t voted, spoken or performed any recorded parliamentary activity.

Exactly this. To stop parties like Reform from breaking electoral law, the punishment must be many times bigger than any advantage gained. And fines won’t do it. Needs jail time and/ or the party being banned from campaigning or standing for election for a significant time period.

Vivienne@viviennesoton.bsky.social

They can afford the fines no matter how large they are. There need to be more serious consequences for breaking electoral law. Otherwise the party with the most dodgy crypto billionaire donors will break the law with relative impunity.

Reminder that the EU had no compunction about banning Russia Today. If anything, Musk’s behaviour is more egregious - directly assisting a foreign enemy's military attack. And this is on top of his support for race riots, Nazis and CSAM! By any measure, a threat to national security.

Steve Peers@stevepeers.bsky.social

It's legitimate for the EU, the UK, Canada and others to support their Ukrainian ally. If Musk is going to (in effect) assist Putin's invasion of Ukraine, Ukraine's allies should sanction Starlink, X and Tesla. At the very least, governments (and people) should stop using his fucking site already.

So Russia did interfere with the Brexit referendum. And I should think it’s nigh on impossible to find out exactly the impact it had. The key question now is what are the govt and security services doing to stop or minimise it happening again.
