because it is relevant to my work, I have tried very hard to educate myself on how AI works, be fair and measured in how I evaluate it, and regularly test new tools to confirm or debunk my priors and tbh AI haters are just nailing it with less work like 99% of the time. keep at it folks

Looks like the long-awaited bike lanes on Cortelyou and Dorchester are finally going in!

Flatbush Streets for People@flatbushstreetsforpeople.com

We are excited to hear that @mayor.nyc.gov is prioritizing the long-delayed bike lane network in Flatbush, East Flatbush, and Midwood. We have been advocating for this network for years, both to protect cyclists and to improve safety for all road users in our neighborhoods.

I guess I'm not surprised that it's 2026 and some cyclists still are obsessed with cycling as a tool against ob*sity bc fatphobia is alive and well and they don't recognize the joy us fat cyclists have just for the sake of cycling

Just got polled about capping property taxes in NYC at 2% - whoever made this poll must be confused that I strongly support property tax reform (specifically, making it fairer to multifamily housing, which isn't discussed at all in the survey) but not this cap (which would make that reform harder!)

This is your occasional backup reminder - if you haven’t yet, go start setting up backups of any kind. If you think you don’t need backups, delete everything you have on the device you’re using right now. If that seems like a bad idea then you need backups.

I, personally, would not go on the record with a reporter to announce I’m in favor of destroying the playground my kid is currently loving because I drive to work once a week (and the road still wouldn’t go there anyway), but everyone lives their lives differently I guess

I think this tendency, at least on the left, comes from a very limited definition of material conditions and/or a failure to consider that some groups have a greater interest in their relative material conditions than their absolute conditions.

Tired: These Fools Are Voting Against Their Own Interests! Wired: Or maybe, just maybe, the idea that anyone "acts against their own interests" comes from a flawed & naive view of what people's interests actually are ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

for anyone who, uh, is able to rewatch gilmore girls and not mash up the background guitar-ish flourishes with "hang your holiday rainbow lights in the garden" from gospel by the national, i salute you and am very jealous.

Zohran Mamdani explicitly ran saying he was responsible for the actions of the police, that the police commissioner would have to listen to him, and that he would be the one accountable to the people. Time to make good on that promise. hellgatenyc.com/zohran-mamda... @hellgatenyc.com

I am angry tonight. Because tonight ICE shot a New Yorker. They shot a New Yorker while his five year old child was in the car. ICE makes this city less safe. We want them out. Now.

I think I’m at the point where I have to consider anything coming out of OAI or Anthropic and anybody too deeply in that world the same way I consider anything coming out of Scientology. “Read this book! We’ve solved psychiatry!” Sure buddy that book is going in the trash as soon as you leave

This ruling affirms what we've long known to be true. The holding room conditions at 26 Federal Plaza are completely deplorable.

A member asked how—if there are 1,142 eligible voters here (in person + proxies)—did 1,240 people supposedly vote?? The Chair continued to the next vote without answering the question, and threatened to have several members removed for continuing to ask about the funny math.

Anti-transplant discourse is a really neat ideological fit for the New York Post, which should probably give serious pause to any Bluesky posters who partake.

The MTA has been planning to reroute the B65 for years, long before Mamdani’s bike boulevard plans. And the reason? Because there are so many double parked cars on Dean/Bergen that buses literally get stuck. IT’S THE CARS. AS USUAL.

your regular reminder that all is not well for those of us living in red states that women are still bleeding out in parking lots and dying because they can’t access abortion care we deserve not to die

ProPublica@propublica.org

ProPublica has found multiple cases of women with underlying health conditions who died when they couldn’t access abortions. Tierra Walker, a 37-year-old mother, was told by doctors there was no emergency before preeclampsia killed her. (Published Nov. 2025)

Yet another round of the eternal transplant discourse and I'm thinking about how I'm alive because I live in a place where I could easily get treatment for my life-threatening ectopic pregnancy and how most places with abortion access have exclusionary housing policies, leaving people to die.

one thing on the Nikole Hannah-Jones piece that's weird: she didn't include much original context around her 2016 piece, which is that her daughter's school was at the center of a very heated school district rezoning battle that hinged on people from dumbo not wanting to send their kids to PS 307

can't believe we keep getting blessed with new crj albums (also glad she finally released the inevitable second part of the double album together this time!)

It’s especially wild to be saying that shit in 2026, when people increasingly have fewer rights in red states than in blue states.

It’s wild to see people who (rightly) wouldn’t dream of maligning immigrants shouting about how internal migration is bad, that if you’re already in the country you shouldn’t be able to attempt to improve your life.

I would like media to care more about the reality that tech tycoons want to kill people than what they’re imagining about AI wanting to kill people. We have multi-millionaires (with support from billionaires!) calling for ethnic cleansing, a thing that has happened in living memory. Not theoretical!
