Yeah, this is really bad. It's good that El-Sayed distanced himself from it, but I am in awe at how Cenk's left-wing PAC managed to combine antisemitism with transphobia and pitch it as *supporting* the Democrat in this race.

It's pretty frustrating how NIMBY gets thrown around as a catch all by morons but Joe here is doing classic hard-M NIMBYism. guess the pod got to his head

Actually, positive change is slow, difficult and incremental by nature. Destroying is fast, building is slow. It is easy to bring misery to people - any idiot can do it, as Trump shows - but very hard to improve their conditions. Building a better society is slow, careful, patient work.

This is something I think a lot of people struggle with on here, because it's two separate issues that are often conflated, and they shouldn't be. To use trans rights as an example, you have to ask two separate questions: 1. Would this person be the 51st vote to expand trans protections?
One senator has a weird amount of power to stop something from happening by themselves. One senator has no individual power to make something happen by themselves.

I know some of that is that a lot of Bsky has a very, very, VERY unhealthy and, frankly, sort of absurd relationship with McBride, but also like....come on, man. You can acknowledge what happens in the US while ALSO fawning over your favorite global emotional support socialists or whatever

"Look, I disagree with them too, that's why I joined The Org, I knew I wouldn't have to make excuses for them & could change it instead. You should too. Anyway these folks are good comrades who have made some good points & really you've taken them out of context because they're right, actually."

Looks like we need to switch to "No, it's only the national DSA that's crazy, the local orgs are pretty good!" we'd been stuck on "No, it's only the local orgs that are crazy, the national DSA is pretty good!" for a minute there.
NEW: DSA's National Political Committee passed two resolutions today aimed at Los Angeles mayoral candidate Nithya Raman, beginning processes that could result in DSA-LA being forced to rescind its endorsement of her this weekend and/or Raman herself being expelled from DSA by January.

The DSA invites you to disagree with them, there's no command structure here. They take this so seriously, in fact, that you will be fucking expelled if you imply the existence of such a command structure. Because there isn't one.
also I was told that we shouldn't pay attention to the national org because the whole thing is decentralized and this seems to contradict that?

he's a piece of shit and what he's saying in the clip is *still* both inaccurate and bigoted, but a lot of you are being rage baited by this caption a little tbh, literally in the clip he talks about how the islamic world used to be more literate than Europe, etc.
RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

"We are going to endlessly politick over what our opaquely decentralized organization believes & does, & only deploy our resources in accordance with that politicking, & we have our own internal language to describe it all." That's cool, also people will never stop thinking you're weird & annoying
