I think it's because Big Tent politicking in the past 60 years meant no one had the incentive to define a positive unitary vision for the country. Everyone is atomized by their car dependent suburbia and never see anyone except their barista and boss, so they can't empathize with minorities

Anti-trans attacks are not a “distraction,” they are a wedge issue! If conservatives are hammering a wedge into your base, you have to fight them off. Ignoring it lets them succeed. They have been doing this my entire life. How can mainstream Dems still not understand how this works?

My brain cannot process this level of corruption. She was being paid $50 million to engineer a pardon from Trump *while working at the Justice Department* as a "Special Government Employee." And it worked. He got the pardon, and she got the money. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/20/u...

given Seattle’s population of ~800,000, we’ll be paying around $695 per resident for policing just for one year (2027)

We're looking at a chart that has 2025 police dept budgets/crime rates/size of force/etc, and what first jumps out to me is that since 2025, we've increased the SPD budget by $90 million. It's grown from $465 million in 2025 to $556 million proposed in 2027.

I thought I remembered Rob Saka SUPPORTING the exact kind of prefab restrooms that he called a waste of money today (now that Mayor Wilson is proposing them) just last year. And lo, I found his amendment—he added $1 million for graffiti-resistant, prefabricated restrooms in West Seattle (p.14)!

it's like if a space has ever been used for cars they think they have permanent "take-backs" we gotta find good ways to defend against that. perhaps in high profile cases like this (and pike place market) we gotta start physically transforming it asap: bollards, curbs, demolishing segments of road

An update from OPCD to the Seattle planning commission last week confirms that the pending Centers & Corridors zoning update is likely to remain on hold for a full year as the city conducts more analysis, in the wake of a state hearings board ruling. www.theurbanist.org/seattles-cen...

Bruce Harrell proposed incredibly modest neighborhood center & transit corridor upzones in March of 2024 and it will likely be late 2027 or early 2028 that those zoning changes will be able to be adopted... ...assuming no further delays due to appeals (a big assumption!!)

Opposing Trump's tariffs alone makes almost all Dems more market-friendly than his GOP. But there's also housing, regulatory reform, deficits, various market interventions, etc. If you really care about free market economics by conventional libertarian standards, Dems win and it's not even close.
