Detroiter Nicole Williams when asked if Abdul El-Sayed is ‘a bit too left wing to win in Michigan’: “At this point what do we have to worry about? Anything but what we have. We're on our way to hell, so at this point: socialist, socialize, social, dont matter to me, lower my cost of living!”

Saw people bemoan that racist RFK clip and suggest we shouldn’t amplify it. But far worse stuff lands in my Michigan mailbox daily. Can’t turn on my tv without being flooded with racism directed at people like me. My 3-year-old sees it. Pretending like it’s not happening won’t solve the problem.

So hard to pick a favorite part of this article. Pretending that sending unsolicited dick pics at 53 was a “youthful indiscretion” is good, but don’t sleep on the argument that his wife forgave him for subjecting other women to unwanted nude photos so everyone else should too

hmmm so there are..39 democrats who are supportive of Trump attacking Ilhan?

The persecution of @repilhan.bsky.social just days before an election is vile and politically-motivated. I'm leading 175 House Democrats in denouncing this. When we retake power, we have to seriously look at how we can stop these abuses of power — starting with the power of the purse.

If the real priority was actually protecting girls from actual men who pose a risk to them in sports, it would make much more sense to advocate for banning male coaches and male doctors. And I’ve never, ever ever heard that suggestion, because that’s not really what this is about.

Samantha Brennan@samanthabrennan.bsky.social

A new survey of 1,000 American adults found that the strongest supporters of transgender sports bans are not the people who admire women most: they are the people who hold the most hostile views about women. www.helenwebberley.com/news/transge...

This is an absolutely disqualifying skeet, and comparisons with Nazis getting killed in the Warsaw Ghetto are apt.

I was born in 1990. Since then, liberal politicians have helped conservatives criminalize Black people, forced gay people deeper into the closet, helped conservatives demonize Muslims, thrown billions and billions into further policing Black and brown people, waged war against people we invaded,

Yes, but why does everything seem so close? These should be watershed voting days, and yet the liberals are barely carrying it off. It's a cult of Thanos vs the rest of us, and Thanos is getting 49.7% in the polls.

Lula winning is great for the planet, great for Brazil, and great for people who aren't revanchist assholes everywhere in the world, but let's not forget that it's also going to make some of the worst people on Earth extremely sad and mad. We should enjoy that, as a little treat.

Been reading about a lot of very bad but entirely ordinary people throughout history for the next season of Past Lives (Everyday Villains). This guy is utterly typical. 1) Doesn't think he's doing anything wrong. 2) Permission structure in a system of hierarchical authority. 3) Benefits materially.

the handful of die-hard anti-trans voters that exist are going to vote GOP no matter what. so this ad will not pick up a single new voter. all it does is further disenfranchise trans ppl – a marginalized group MAGA hates. this is a pro-MAGA ad & Turek is furthering MAGA's cause by airing it

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.

Decades ago they joked that there was no more dangerous place to stand in Washington DC than right between Chuck Schumer and a TV camera. But for some reason this schmuck can’t work up a press release for a Democratic member of Congress being persecuted by the president.

Truthout@truthout.org

Chuck Schumer — one of the most powerful Democrats in the country — has not issued statements to the press or through his social media channels about the administration’s attack on Ilhan Omar, which critics have described as a five alarm fire for the state of democracy in the U.S.

Democrats could not be more clearly signaling that they have no intention to actually do anything useful. Attacking Trump for decorating like Saddam Hussein (?) instead of the Republican Party's obvious evils is really gross.

Somebody needs to revisit some literature on what leadership means. the notion that you should stay quiet in the face of moral injustice (for political expediency) and then expect folks to follow you into battle afterwards is bananas

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"

Planning to support/assist a strike on Iran in advance of the Israeli elections next week and so wants to distract from the inevitable backlash by running the old “both parties fight dirty and are corrupt” shtick again (I’m only partially joking bc everyone knows a strike is imminent)

I think Clinton, Obama and Biden did good things when they had Democratic majorities but if you compare it to what Reagan, Bush and Trump have done you can comprehend why we need to change this culture where we simply dont demand enough of the Democratic Party.

You sure can't pour Gaza

"Online Rent-a-Sage" Bret Devereaux@bretdevereaux.bsky.social

I do not claim that you can pour everything into the gap between Trump on the one hand and Biden/Harris on the other, but into that chasm nevertheless fit a great many lives lost or ruined. It turns out there really was a difference!

I don't think I've ever seen "Free Palestine!" and "Slava Ukraini!" in the same bio. And more often than not, the people with the latter in their bio are ferociously hostile to the idea of a free Palestine. I'm continually baffled at the disparity and dissonance, but it speaks volumes.
