seeing Latinos in media did and continues to mean a lot to me but you know what means more? Seeing my people in my field, more senior and junior and contemporary to me. I will not settle for diverse toys.

Hearing the SBG boys parse through the Sillymarilly has been a delight. Muddle through the creation myth parts and you get true Tolkien (and I guess Chris and GGK) weird and wonderful. I love that it hits for them. And it can hit for YOU TOO

Middle-Earth goes nuts as SBG's new episode on The Silmarillion introduces vampires and werewolves (enough to populate a whole island), princesses locked in treehouses making ropes out of hair, and evil recurring side characters and their talking dog from heaven: rangedtouch.com/2026/10/23/t...

Xreal Aura is going to cost $1279, and Meta’s VR Glasses will be $1299. There’s a phase change in XR design and these two are a big part of it. But, also, they’re all relatively expensive compared to a Quest or regular Xreal glasses www.cnet.com/uncategorize...

Don't forget the slow strangulation of the market by the live service behmoths like Fortnite, Minecraft and Roblox.

I keep seeing people throw out the term "Covid Correction" for the mass layoffs we continue to see in the games industry. We're beyond that. It's far beyond the mass hiring during Covid. It's mismanagement, poor trend chasing, cuts of departments to use AI (not as much but happening), etc.

Hi, I'm looking to speak to people who have left games journalism in the last few years and have gone onto do something else. DMs are open, or luke@aftermath.site, thanks!

That's cool. I'm sure all the BitReactor devs that were furloughed weeks before launch are gonna see some of that $50 million... right? Residuals are standard in other creative industries. If the people who actually made the game got their share of the profits, we wouldn't be in this mess.

Star Wars Zero Company is estimated to have sold 1 million copies, with the majority of those sales coming from Steam, which Alinea Analytics' Rhys Elliott estimates has generated around $50 million since last month’s launch. https://bit.ly/4xKTiku

This whole thread makes me feel like my scalp is on fire. I feel like some of us have been shouting the bolded part here for years and they just tweeted it out (in court).

two different paragraphs, two different sections but encourage you to click and read the unsealed (pink) of both of them together. And stop and think about the impact and harm to news media and civil society. /8

We have fucked around for a decade and now we're finding out. Net Zero by 2050 was predicated on reductions starting from 2016 – instead we've *increased* emissions every year since. We're are now so far behind the 8-ball, no one in power seems to get how truly bad the situation has gotten.

I enjoyed Onimusha: Way of the Sword, but wish the series emerged from dormancy with more of its own brand & less adherence to Souls/Sekiro parry combat. Give me more funky demons, more Hell-Oni politics. The way of the sword really is doing the same slash 10,000 times😞 www.cnet.com/tech/gaming/...

I had fun exploring my neighborhood of Ballard looking for signs of Jimothy (but didn't look for the raccoon himself) while testing the Pixel 11 Pro XL cameras. And then I took it camping. Photos here at CNET: www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/...
