BBC News - Police appeal to woman after Reform UK audience incident - BBC News www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... The Reform Party are quite within their rights to eject people they regard as disruptive, their members are not entitled to assault those people and those involved should be facing charges.

He fell asleep in a meeting with Turkish President Erdogan, referred to Iran as the "Islamic Republic of Japan", TikTok as "Tic Tac", President Zelensky as "President Putin" & once again demanded the U.S. be given control of Greenland. He's much less dangerous while sleeping than when he's awake. 💤

Just finished Any Questions, up against Richard Tice. I knew there would be plenty of BS on climate, but he spouted rubbish on *every* subject. Even claimed that the EU is not our biggest trading partner, but the US. In fact, we have 3x more trade with the EU. He believes whatever he wants to.

So that’s two of the “Raise the Colours” organisers now charged with violent crimes & a fifth of the 2024 race rioters with domestic abuse. Makes you wonder whether “innocent patriotism” & “protecting women & girls” are just covers for thuggish racism & misogyny?

Angela Rayner was dragged through every front page for weeks... HMRC's verdict: NOT deliberate. NOT even careless. Farage pockets £5 million and chooses not to declare it So where's the wall-to-wall coverage? Tell me this isn't a rigged game.

I know there’s a lot going on with the Labour Party, but it is all in the bounds of democratic politics. This however, paid collusion between the leaders of two political parties in the run up to election, if true, is a scandal of staggering propositions

He admitted that they were AP photos minutes later, but the damage was already done. On what basis did you decide to refer to them as “govt propaganda” and “fake news” while ardently urging the public not to trust them, Sam? None? Oh that’s fine then. Just broadcasting to MILLIONS of people.

Can I just ask, #r4today, as you seem to be very keen to talk about and investigate Polanski’s council tax issue, why not the same feverish scrutiny over the far more troubling and glaringly corrupt £5M bribe Farage took from that crypto billionaire, Harborne? We can hear your strings being pulled.

In Sunderland, Reform stood David Barker. Who beat his girlfriend “black and blue”. He also neglected and burnt his child with cigarettes. He was handed a suspended sentence. It comes up when you Google him. He won in the council election. A vicious domestic abuser is now a Reform Councillor.

THE ECHR PROTECTS US ALL The rights within it are the reason why families devastated by disasters like Hillsborough could demand justice, why victims of abuse can seek safety and why disabled people are treated with dignity in care. WE MUST PROTECT IT, NOT LEAVE IT

THE EUROPEAN CONVENTION ON HUMAN RIGHTS IS A SAFETY NET THAT PROTECTS US ALL - NO MATTER WHO IS IN POWER WE MUST DEFEND IT! Planned reforms to how it works could lead to a slow erosion of our rights. Is that what we want? @libertyhq.bsky.social youtu.be/Fhrb5Z7ScME?...

I think a journalist outside the BBC should ask for an interview with the BBC and with Ana Gonzales on this. Going through each segment in the programme, stopping, then asking both Ana Gonzales and the BBC to comment. Maybe a programme about how journalism shapes - or miss-shapes voter opinions.

Natasha Walter@natashawalter.bsky.social

I’ve been hearing so much anger and disappointment from frontline workers about the BBC investigation into fraudulent asylum claims. One of the most damning responses has come from one of the experts they interviewed, solicitor Ana Gonzalez. It’s really worth reading her response in full:

The big divide in Britain today is between working people and the privately educated, rich, greedy, tax-dodging, selfish, grifting gobshites who try to manipulate working people by pretending to give a shit about them.

Reform voted against the improvements to workers’ rights in the Employment Rights Act and they plan to scrap the Equality Act and lower the National Minimum Wage. Are they hell on the side of working people. Rich people maybe. Working people, definitely not.

I'm always skeptical of BBC-bashing, but BBC News website hasn't reported on the Tice tax scandal since 12 April, when the headline was "Tice £91,000 tax row is 'minor administrative error', party claims".

Today marks a year since the Supreme Court decision. We now know a revised version of the draft statutory guidance is due in May. We need to act fast to make sure it explains how trans people can still be included. Write to your MP to tell them what they need to do, using our quick and easy tool 👇

Good Law Project@goodlawproject.org

The government was forced to admit the EHRC’s transphobic draft guidance got it wrong, and they’ve had to send it back to the drawing board. But the fight is far from over. They plan to bring an updated version back to parliament in May. So we need to act – fast 👇

For the second day, the person engaging in the unlawful practice is not a lawyer or an immigration advisor. Yet this nuance is totally absent from the framing. For the second day, the specific example on which the article is based makes un-evidencrd links to rising claims. It's deplorable.

Cllr Dr Alex Powell@apowelllaw.bsky.social

For the second day, the BBC are running a story that presents itself as providing evidence of endemic abuse of the asylum system based on seemingly a single encounter with someone who is neither a lawyer nor a registered immigration adviser. Words fail. This is reprehensibly irresponsible.

He’s “just a good businessman”. Not contributing to the national pot and then moaning his moneyed arse off about public services. Reform’s real motive for power: a race to the bottom for wild profiteering for people like Tice. There’s less than nothing in it for anyone else. Just cost. And regret.
