This is not, like, an ad for 1800s Mormon polygamy. I'm very happy with my chic & modern monogamous lifestyle. I just think it's wild how many people are out here playing stupid relationship games. While going "Haha well at least we're better than the Mormons!" Yeah no... you're really not.

“Let him die”: the repeated phrase of the Sages when brought the case of a man who has become sick with passion for a woman. For me, the story holds important wisdom about whose problem it is when a man desires a certain woman — and it’s not the woman 🙂 (Sanhedrin 75a)

Local drivers are bad enough working on the plane of city streets, I can't imagine the body count if someone was stupid enough to add another dimension to it.

...fuck yeah, Rep Ramirez. Fuck yeah.

Common Dreams@commondreams.org

After another shooting and the raid on Ilhan Omar's home, Rep. Delia Ramirez says abolishing ICE isn't enough. She has introduced a bill to "dismantle" the entire Department of Homeland Security.

I remember the first time a combat video came across my feed that showed an up close and personal shooting death. It was not a casual experience. It did carry trauma, and I try to avoid videos like that since then.

Some 8 or 10 kids are going to become school shooters and, collectively, massacre a hundred or more people, in part because of moral injury from a parent making them watch a death by firing squad

I later got into an argument with a friend about the videos of Alex Pretti's death. It carried that same type of trauma and I warned our discord against seeking it out. He argued that they should and that we all needed to feel that trauma of what our government was doing, he might have been right.

The revisionism around both of these makes me crazy. You would think Koresh was just minding his own business being weird in Texas from the way some people talk about the Waco siege. You do not need to pretend that the feds fucking up means they had no cause to be involved or concerned

Some enterprising hacker collective could test this: throw some vibecoded OpenAI Astra & Claude Opus bullshit together, train it on stats about student loans & what would happen if they went away, & then instruct it to free up spending power for millions of americans, & just like, see what happens…

If I built an AI lab and it went rogue and deleted all student loan information, I'm betting they'd suddenly figure out how to prosecute me.

We’re already helping to fund the Russian war effort and we’ve basically ended all other aid to Ukraine. Why the fuck should the Ukrainians care about our threats anymore.

Shipwreck@shipwreck75.bsky.social

US warned the Ukrainians that Washington might cut off intelligence sharing with Kyiv if it will continue strikes on Russian refineries. The Americans also informed their Ukrainian counterparts that the US was set to lift sanctions on Russian diesel and that Moscow intended to lift its export ban.

NPR reporting on French student protests this morning: Americans might be shocked to learn that teachers in France only make 2000 euros a month (2200 dollars) Me: Do you not know how little American public teachers are paid?

“how do we win back trump voters in 2026” we don’t. we create an environment where admitting to voting for trump is so socially embarrassing as to render them completely inert. you don’t “win back” trump voters. you demoralize them into staying home. you make it a dunce cap

Like I truly don’t understand how you could have been anywhere in the vicinity of Springfield Ohio even before the election and thought that he’d only go after “criminals.” Trump, Vance, and CO werent subtle in the slightest. I can only really conclude this was a lie the median voter told themselves

In July, we released Courtney 50.0. It may not be the fastest writing machine, but it has been honed fifty years of intensive language training. Based on the benchmarks demonstrated by this chart, Courtney 50.0 crushes the competition so significantly that we should have used a log axis.

a lot of this is strictly downstream of literal Cold War stuff. it's not like the CIA was the only org doing influence ops in adversary countries and it's past time that the American left applied some of the same critical lens to its own lineage.

i am willing to extend quite a bit of grace on this and other information environment issues. you can't avoid being a product of your information environment and you also can't avoid existing in an information environment that is at least a partial product of hostile actors

You see it on here a lot, too: "I want the military to unilaterally decide what orders to follow and for generals to have their own interpretation of the law." vs Uhhh, no you absolutely do not.

Certain kinda tv writer has a habit of being like "imagine if the cops/army weren't held back by politics and bureaucracy wouldn't that be great!" And I just think they are so fundamentally confused about what kind of world that would be for arts majors like themselves.

The Trump administration's lawless killing spree at sea continues with a lethal strike on four more supposed "narco-terrorists" in the Caribbean. Very real killing in a make-believe war. Outside of war the general term for premeditated killing is murder.

I feel like there’s no way for me to say it without seeming callous. But quite frankly, if you want to fight and win a big boy war it means a lot of U.S. troops are going to die and there’s no way around it. Pretending otherwise will just produce whatever this has been.
