This is perfect example why we need more progressive councilors. Not just for votes on things, it determines what we actually prioritize as a city. D3 and D4 peeps go be annoying and tell your friends to drop off their ballots if they haven't already.

Update: The Save Public Schools resolution will not be on tomorrow's council agenda, but we will have more information soon on when it will be coming to council. Thank you all for your support.

Takeaway from the #pdx Council Public Works Committee discussion on Waymo for me is that if we allow these things they're going to be an infinite enforcement nightmare and they probably need to pay some big fat fees for us to bother dealing with them.

Let's do it. Legislators need to hear from you if you support this!

Specifically on revenue reform, we are calling for: 1. Adoption of the kicker methodology bill that Rep. Gamba has carried 2. Taking on Measures 5 and 50 directly 3. Fully decouple from HR 1 We're also calling for action on local revenue measures under consideration by Council (i.e., Fair Share).

Cannot understate how impactful these three policies would be for Oregon’s budget.

This is crucial. We MUST reform M5+M50. If we aren't capable of that unpopular but straightforward change, we can't enact the demographic changes otherwise necessary to save PPS. And if we can't use *this* momentum to challenge M5+M50, it ain't happening.

if the outrage over PPS closures finally gets the state legi to get off their ass and fix M5/50 and the kicker... wouldn't be mad.

"I understand that it is a city asset... we don’t get to just say no or walk away from it or defer it until it’s crumbling." Why Portland city council candidate Kellie Torres would have voted yes on the Moda term sheet. nwlaborpress.org/2026/10/conv...

Went and looked at the #pdx council D4 candidates small donor dashboard on a whim. Yeah donations != votes but it's gonna be super close isn't it.

Sarah Silkie and Chad Lykins voters ended up having their second choices mostly going to Mitch or having their vote unused. Arnold lost because he barely got any second or below picks from them (Don't rank campagins work for one especially bad candidate!)

the eli arnold PCEF free transit proposal is bad. would eviscerate PCEF, would basically throw a grenade into trimet’s extremely functional regional fare system by creating a weird local exemption, and it doesn’t even have a strong climate nexus (free transit rides don’t displace car trips)

My ballot drop off at the library is too easily walkable to need something like this, cool as it is. Steak too juicy, lobster too buttery. 😔

The mayor caved to Trump, removed DEI language, and this connected developer is dropping the r slur in public meetings and calling me a burrito in racist group chats but according to Willy Week the Big decorum issue is that I’m too mean talking about racism and sexism and other isms in this space

Councilor Mitch Green@councilorgreen.bsky.social

Today in the Housing and Permitting Committee Chair Avalos had to interrupt and call to order Brian Owendoff who violated our rules of decorum and engaged in ableist slurs at the dais. Mr. Owendoff’s comments were deplorable and the chair was right to gavel him out.

People keep trying to game theory ranked choice voting and I honestly wouldn’t overcomplicate it for yourself. Put your choices in the order you want. Between attacks from PACs, the way people view women in power, disinfo campaigns, we don’t know how it’ll shake out. youtu.be/pUC32T7nPVU

I’m very critical of Tina Kotek and people need to vote for her anyway. There’s no ranked choice in this race. The governor has the power to call in the national guard, or affect voting. That alone is too important. Christine Drazan is too dangerous. Hold your nose and do it.

This election will be a referendum on DSA. Not only whether they are popular, but if they are popular enough to overcome MASSIVE spending by the center and right. Portlanders must reject reactionary centrism, use their eyes and ears, and look at what these councilors have fought for (i.e. Moda).

When you keep trying to take all the transportation money to widen highways, this is what happens @tinakotek.bsky.social

On Friday, the Oregon Climate Action Commission heard updates on the Statewide Transportation Strategy report. The report provides progress on the state’s effort in reducing emissions from the transportation sector, which accounts for 35% of the state’s overall emissions.
