the single most common source of actual voter fraud, which is basically nonexistent, is republican politicians or republican political operatives

Christopher Mathias@letsgomathias.bsky.social

so priceless that prolific ratfucker James O'Keefe, by going undercover to prove how easy it is to commit voter fraud.... ends up proving how hard it is to commit voter fraud, and then catches charges for unlawful voting chef's kiss, stellar work all around www.startribune.com/conservative...

We're so floored right now. Obviously we still have a ways to go. But most people don't get this far. And we have an AMAZING network fighting alongside us.

Today is one of the most important of my career. I wish my (birth) family could be proud of me. But gosh the showing of love I've seen from all of y'all blows that away. You're who I make art for. Thank you.

‘Pop-Up Video’ premiered 30 years ago today. 🫧 The popular VH-1 program added trivia and snide quips to music videos via “info nuggets” that popped up on-screen.

Tangent here, but something I've often wondered about HP is that we know the British Minister for Magic regularly meets with and briefs the British PM. And we find out in Book 4 (canonically 1994) that Bulgaria also has a Minister for Magic. So did Bulgarian Ministers report to Zhivkov before 1989?

Takashi Miike talking about VISITOR Q (2001). There’s a subsection of film fandom that really really needs to try and internalize this mode of creation/understanding.

Aaron Sorkin is more self-aware than his rep. I remember him saying that if he wrote reality, the Trump era would end with Republicans doing the right thing and forcing him to step down, followed by him saying obviously that would never happen in real life

If I'm really honest one of the most exhausting things about posting online and marketing your work is the pressure to perform as of your work and tastes are always the most everything, the most weird, the most horny, the most dark and brutal, the most soft and comforting. Idk man it depends.

I love making weird stuff, do you guys actually enjoy reading weird stuff? Or is 'weird' just the word you use for things you already know and like and want more of?

rarebit reposted

Maybe this is a little sour grapes on my part but for as much as I hear people always shouting "make weirder games!" I think it's actually very difficult to get any attention on your work if w/e you're making doesn't lend itself to a snappy 1 sentence pitch with familiar genre it aesthetic labels.

So obviously this is super cool. But if you just read the headline, we're doing MULTIPLE THINGS! We have a feature film by the director of Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon A streaming show show run by one of the developers and writers for The Boys A lower budget vertical serial #iHunt

There is something genuinely special about a game where danger from killing a monster is less daunting than the fact that you need to do it without health insurance.

rarebit reposted

There are many reasons I’m excited about this, but here’s a weird one. In the U.S., everything is pretty bad right now, and some part of me would expect this to be reflected in our TTRPGs, but by and large it is not. iHunt is an amazing exception to this, and thank goodness for it.

Capitalism is not at its “end stage” and you would not be able to tell the difference between today’s chocolate and the chocolate of your childhood in a blind taste test. Everyone in your life only agrees because they all watch the same Instagram Reel slop you do.

my nuclear-grade AI hot take that’s sure to get me cancelled until kingdom come is that refusing to use AI at all is rapidly becoming an extremely privileged lifestyle choice that feels social justice-y while actually being the complete opposite

this is why disclosure is not a selling point, if you're curious

Casey S. Pumpkins 🎃@caseyexplosion.bsky.social

It always comes back to this for me; if AI was so good, such a disclosure would be a selling point. If AI was everything these slop jockeys said it was, they should be proud to let people know their game was AI made. But the proof is in the pudding, and they can't stand that people don't want it.

This just seems to be the best solution to reliance on closed models. And it also makes the comparison to what Aaron Swartz or other persecuted piraters did more clear—so when they invoked as a way to put down AI models we can say we don't want corporate control we want a training set commons

I want my foreign friends to understand the magnitude of this popular mobilization against fascism. 90-year-olds in wheelchairs, isolated Indigenous communities walking miles, and poor neighborhoods fighting for hours after far-right mayors halted buses to suppress votes. And we won.

We won not only against Bolsonaro, but against the full force of the USian's Big Techs, Meta, CIA, Trump, the Brazilian right-wing elites, the billionaires' press and more.

I don't have any original thoughts on issues of friction -- certainly no simplistic takeaway -- but I am deathly frightened by the world-historic pivots a lot of people (in both pro- and anti-AI camps) are undergoing towards "intelligence" as a concept.

i block every anti-ai post i see because i know none of them are going to have a nuanced take. its either ALWAYS "im an artist and this could hurt me financially!" or "AI IS EVIL NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!"

The antis are mad about AI because they know deep down they just produce derivative slop and if there is anything at all that even the shittiest model is good at, it’s producing derivative slop.

There's also the phenomenon where people will mass review bomb games they didn't buy or play simply for having an AI disclosure. This is punishing people for honesty! That's super fucked!
