I don’t think this is exactly what’s going on, or all that’s going on. It’s not that Republicans are constructing an elaborate psychological defense against evidence that Trump is a rapist. It’s that they like that he’s a rapist, and they like rape: it enacts the power of the strong over the weak.

Julian Sanchez@normative.bsky.social

The vile attacks on Amy Acton need to be seen in the context of a party that *needs* people to believe women fabricating sexual assaults is common as rainwater. Because it’s pretty much the only way to evade the conclusion that the president is a rapist.

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

This Black MAGA creator says she “cannot believe the disrespect” after being removed from a San Antonio rally hosted by Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton!?!?! Why would they treat her this way???

One of the many things I love about El-Sayed is that he's willing to engage with someone hostile if it gets them to admit the premises behind that hostility, to the extent that it becomes impossible to avoid the underlying bigotry. You want to go there, fine, but he's gonna make you own it.

This is Tommy. Tommy had a question about my allegiances. Listen to the end to hear about his.

I appreciate a lot about Ms. Rachel but in the top 5 somewhere is that she demonstrates how effectively the powers of permanent, irrepressible theater kid energy can be harnessed for good

Somebody said "They voted for racism and got poverty" The thing is... social scientists and economists have been saying for the last 50 years Racism is austerity

Thank you to everyone who stood with me over the years. It’s been a scary journey but I have always been grounded in my work and ability to provide exemplary service to my constituents. Trump and his administration have been after me since I arrived in Congress.

BREAKING WaPo: Trump officials scrutinized Rep. Ilhan Omar in 2019. They didn't find citizenship issues.
The earlier review of Omar's immigration records looked at many of the same issues being investigated now.

The only version of these movies I'll accept is for three of them to be straight movies that are all very similar in style and then Ringo’s is a Muppet movie where Ringo is the only human.

Sony is considering releasing all 4 ‘BEATLES’ biopics on the same day in April 2028. Another idea being considered is offering a 4-pack of tickets to encourage fans to buy tickets to all 4 films at once. (Source: www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie...)

Underlining the message that all immigrant citizens are second class citizens under Trump. Our rights can be revoked if we dare to criticize a corrupt regime.

So I want to start a restaurant in an airport that only serves custard-based desserts and only to couples who are on long layovers and agree to split one order. Call it "Time Flies when You're Halving Flan."

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

As a theatre person, I cannot stand how often pitchers stop the game after like the second pitch because their pitchcom device isn't working. THIS IS WHY MIC CHECKS ARE A THING, PEOPLE! #NLCS

I think people should listen to what the administration trying to bring back spectacle lynchings, race riots, and middle passage-esque deportation voyages are trying to tell you about themselves. bsky.app/profile/bren...

The news just since I left work: -A planned livestream of an execution by firing squad -Trump basically trying to incite a pogrom against Somalis Nothing mysterious or complicated about what's happening.

Sam Altman said people are just gonna have to die in order to implement AI. In the very same week, Anthropic claimed it’s a human rights violation to be mean to the computer. These people need to be held accountable. They think lines of code are a person with rights but living people are debris.

The Verge@theverge.com

Over the past year, Anthropic has repeatedly flirted with the idea that its AI models could be conscious in some way. In February, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said on a podcast, “We don’t know if the models are conscious.”

They’re live-streaming the execution of the person they think they can get away with doing that to first. It’s a test. If they can do that, they’ll expand the margins of permission.

“Pretend I’m on the ballot,” Trump says. He is, along with: An illegal war, high gas prices, ICE’s street murders, measles, crypto scams, explosive diarrhea after food safety cutbacks, concentration camps and pardons for cop beaters. When you vote for Republicans, you’re voting for all of that.

I just saw someone wearing a sweatshirt bearing the words: "Empowering people to advocate for impact" and nothing else. And it's impossible to tell whether that's a real slogan or a bit of surface-of-Mercury dry humor about the essential emptiness of slogan language. I would wear it as the latter.

Every time they dig up some "shocking" old tweet from Abdul El-Sayed I keep clicking through to see if there's a part two before realizing yet again that it's just something Muslims aren't allowed to say

As a Jew, the most vital thing I need anyone running to lead us to denounce are the concentration camps where civilians, from babies to elders, are being held without due process. I know what happens when a group is reviled, scapegoated & held captive by an authoritarian force dividing to conquer.

not sure how to express this without sounding like a chair-turned-around youth pastor, but there's something so radical about having your most well-known lyric be "i will always love you" and then sincerely embodying it whenever possible

Okay. Here's the deal. We have lost... pretty much the unanimous moral foundation of our nation. The imperative now. The only way forward. Is to be the kind of person Dolly would have been proud of.
