I really fucking need people to go to their local college and audit a documentary filmmaking class before saying shit like "I don't think this movie accurately portrays the facts therefore it's not a documentary" that's not what the word "documentary" *means*

I have discovered the exact, objective, scientific amount that Elizabeth Holmes and Nathan Fielder are lying and/or credulous. By solving this it means that I’ve won, which is the point of the movie, and really all movies if you think about it.

this is so much more casually lame than the rage about intellectual property is really able to articulate

like idk man. spiegelman is great because he’s weird and particular. shadow of no towers has this one image of the towers burning that repeats over and over again because (his narrative) nobody else seemed to have replicated this one moment of the collapse that he remembered seeing clearly

A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"

Must-read 🧵. The Dept of Ed aims to dismantle public schooling entirely; state-level voucher programs are key to the plan. As my forthcoming book shows, the “school choice” models described below put religious liberty and consumer choice claims to segregationist ends, enshittifying ed for all.

Anybody got any good Tubi movie recommends? My recommend is The Name of the Rose. Sean Connery in a monastic noir, with Tom Waits as a hunchback and a young Christian Slater. Lighting, sets and atmosphere was incredible. A movie!

As a game thinker, personally, I'm not interested in distinguishing games clearly from other kinds of behaviors and activities. I'm interested in finding and learning from the games that are hiding, unidentified, unrecognized, unacknowledged in the other things we do.

Tiered success isn’t the greatest innovation of Apocalypse World. It’s not even the part that makes it work. The moves are what make it work. It’s not a single system of 2d6 with different mechanics, it’s a constellation of subsystems - moves - that just all use 2d6 as their randomizing agent
