When your friend who ordered cocktails, the steak supplement and a whiskey instead of coffee suggests “Shall we just split the bill between all of us?”

This should be the moment people finally realise that Farage has turned them into fascists.
If you’re choosing this dangerous inhumanity over the rescue work of the RNLI, you’ve lost your minds to racism and hatred.
Trump: "If we lose $50 billion a year with a country, and we say 'we're not going to trade with you anymore,' we don't lose $50 billion a year. It's very simple. Right?"

A sitting Conservative MP using the word Yookay. Genuinely astonishing to me that visibly there is no warning sign, at all, will be heeded by loads of people at Westminster with a *direct stake* in this type of politics failing.
I understand the necessity of a wide range views in the media, we need it, I defend it - but this is not what I'm talking about
I'm talking about people that add nothing of value, aren't bright, professionally rage bait - & get a free pass b/c they've always been there & "are nice in real life!"
But also, if you behaved they way they do where I'm from, it just wouldn't fly - that's not how normal people are
I know of very active examples where it isn't flying - they have been ostracised because everyone has realised they're an opportunistic weirdo and a bad person
I do wonder if being so confused by it is class thing and/or neurodivergent thing
First of all, it just doesn't make sense to me as socially acceptable behaviour (which I've spent more time trying to understand than most); getting why people act the way they do takes more brain energy for me
Naturally someone's online/media persona is more dramatic than real life - that's why social media is not real life
But if someone is spending their time just being so hateful or incendiary for attention - but are nice to you, when they have something to lose - it doesn't make them a good person!
There are many things that were a culture shock for me entering journalism, but this was one of the weirdest
I don't care if they're nice to *you* in real life, if they've spent their time revelling in the death of a vulnerable person, they're not. a. nice. person!
I'm probably shouting into the void with this one, but if people stopped dividing people from the person they see on Twitter/their screens/on the airways - and stopped allowing them to dodge accountability because 'they're nice in real life!' - our industry would be in a much healthier state
I'm not going to name names, but part of the reason the industry tolerates them doing such disgraceful and unethical things is because of the in real life 'they're really nice in person, really!' defence
Of course they are! If they acted like that in real life they'd be ostracised & unemployable!
One of the things us an industry need to stop doing is perpetuating the 'they say this on social media, but they're a sweetheart in real life' about awful people
I've had other journos say this to me about some of the most pernicious grifters over the years, some of who crossed many lines this week
I think what's most damning is that this media frenzy happened because it is august, and there is no news, and the journos were bored and this looked exciting.
And now a man is dead and they'll all go "yes, very sad" then blame the universities as a concept before fucking off to party conferences
Cambridge University should have known better, Fleet Street should have known better, the people hungrily absorbing every bit of news about it, making newsrooms feel like they had to keep going with it as a story, should have known better, horrible horrible horrible
Another case of ‘everything Trump touches dies’. Mango Mussolini so upset to be presenting the World Cup to a *woke* country like Spain.

England are losing, and John Stones is down injured. The camera cuts to Mick Jagger. Guy Mowbray says some pre-scripted thing about "He won't be feeling much satisfaction." YES BUT THERE'S A PLAYER CALLED 'STONES' DOWN INJURED. MOWBRAY! YOU HAD ONE JOB.
Heinrich Himmler:
"If we lose the war, the Allies will turn every committee of the occupation into an investigative body. They will go after the Reich leadership, the cabinet, the donors, and friends."
A discussion about the social media ban on under 16s.
BBC: “You’re gong to have a lot more time to fill. What will you do?”
Student: “Stare at a wall.”
Those people in America and the UK who are weaponising the death of Henry Nowak for their disgusting little hate agenda are absolute scum. All of them. I could not hate anyone more.
