During the brazilian elections we learned one obvious but important tactic to defeat the far right on the Internet and I think everyone should know it: IGNORE THEM! DON'T ENGAGE WITH THEIR CONTENT! DON'T MAKE CONTENT REACTING TO THEM! DON'T HATE QRT! LET THEM ALONE IN THEIR BUBBLE!

Like if I were a major shareholder I would be livid. This is wonton destruction of these publishers’ most precious assets. It’s like literally setting fire to millions of dollars of property and equipment. It’s wildly irresponsible and self-sabotaging.

the idea phase is the easiest and least valuable part of professional creativity. read the first draft of the first Star Wars if you doubt me Great art is made in the grinding, often miserable collision between the ethereal substance of an idea and the mud and blood and friction of reality

i want to say a lot of things but what i will instead say is: if any studio exhibits "a kind of magic" that magic is a mixture of obsession, creatives clicking together in a collaborative way, and visionholders that trust their talent and are trusted by them.

Agreed and excellent work to the entire narrative team. I'm having the best time and love (or love to hate) all the characters.

the funniest thing about galactic racer is how critical it's narrative elements are to how fucking hard it hits. It might not seem seem like fzero needed narrative elements, but galactic racer objectively proves how important they are to your game hitting like an atom bomb.

Huh. This seems to be an extremely good, broad study too?

Harvard just dropped a study AI productivity in software engineering and it found the average increase in productivity from using Claude code is.....zero and for exactly the reasons you'd think fion.ac/jellyfish.pdf

It really doesn't make sense to attribute those job losses to AI-the-technology, because if that were the case we'd be observing AI outputs displacing conventional entertainment products, and they're clearly not. Rather, the impact of AI is that AI-the-business is crowding out other investment.

Hollywood has suffered the most in the AI era—with the movie & TV industry losing more than 100k jobs, nearly one-third of the sector’s total employment, over the last four years. Total employment in video production is approaching the fthe lowest levels in 30 years

i've had so many of these working on imsims. my first was the guards in my stealth game who could hear each other's footsteps and if they didn't already know roughly where the other guy was they would investigate each other and be surprised to see each other. in first person this looks like nothing

thinking about this again today, and not even in the context of procgen. The thing about systems design is that it's so easy to get excited about making little sandboxes for yourself that you forget the player needs insight into it, lest it simply appear the same as complete randomness.

if you’re a games company that wants to survive it has been proven over and over again you need to do whatever it takes to stay away from being publicly traded. you’ll be turned into wood chips the moment it’s convenient.

An AI flyer is a brown M&M test. If your event or business is cutting corners by using an AI flyer, where else are you cutting corners? What else are you cheating out on? Why should I be bothered to go somewhere you couldn't be bothered to promote with a little of your own personality?

As a fun bonus I recognized some names in the credits at the end and pointed at my screen with glee like I KNOW THESE PEOPLE THEY ARE GOOD PEOPLE WOW GREAT WORK GUYS

Brilliant thread on the damage potential of LLM interactions. Shit is toxic all the way down.

Bruno Dies@brunodias.dev

This really is the fundamental toxicity of this technology that just can't ever be escaped; even if it wasn't the object of economically destructive hype, even if it wasn't being overdeployed in environmentally harmful ways, etc, it's like asbestos for the brain

the thing about indie games is that if someone designs one single game I love, I’ll get whatever they make for the rest of their lives and pretty much always have a good time. people are so attached to ip but imo you really gotta know the creators.

Listen, if you’re not happy single, you won’t be happy in a relationship either, happiness comes from picking a new hobby and then buying all the things to start that hobby then finding the perfect little storage container for those things and then putting that storage container in the spare room

I'm not good at eating fruit regularly even though it's delicious and good for me, so I'm starting up this new thing where I'll cut up some fruit to eat while I play games. I call this my "gamer fruit." you too can enjoy some "gamer fruit," it's nice and I would recommend it
