The conditions of one’s birth - country, parents’ wealth and education, language, etc. - are the biggest lottery ticket you never paid for. To be proud of any of it or look down on others’ lot is the pinnacle of delusion.

“THE BOTTOM LINE: THERE IS MORE THAN SUFFICIENT EVIDENCE TO LAUNCH A CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION” ok, Democrats. We win, I expect it.

In June, committee ranking members wrote that the Park Service is assessing a “triumphal arch” at Memorial Circle that Congress never authorized, which they say two federal statutes prohibit. Interior Secretary Burgum said in September that excavation would start within two weeks.

I have the vaguest of memories of my grandpa taking me to see a re-release of Bambi at the single-screen movie theater in my hometown.

First film you saw at the cinema. The real first one, not the pretend one you tell people: First one I remember I was seven. Star Wars. My dad was an ad exec at the local radio station and the station DJs were boots on the ground for opening night. It was late so I got to go in my pajamas.

🚨BREAKING: In a blow to the DOJ, the 9th Circuit rejected its request to bypass a lower court to bar California from counting around 20k ballots from people it alleges are "likely" noncitizens. The ruling comes the night before the parties are scheduled to have a hearing before a lower court.

There are only two explanations for the NYT's habit of presenting GOP operatives and donors as true swing voters: 1. Their reporters and editors are somehow incapable of running a simple Google searches, showing just a staggering level of journalistic incompetence 2. They want to the GOP to win

This week’s main story is about how more and more white nationalists, antisemites, and Nazi sympathizers seem to be integrating into the Republican Party, how some of them are currently running for office, and how old you can be for JD Vance to consider you “a very young boy.”

I could spend the rest of my life analysing this feedback sign in the local Home Bargains. Did 'not happy' break from overuse? Was it taped over to ensure 100% positive feedback? Is the green 'b' in 'feedback' some kind of subliminal nudge? Is the duck tape indent because people still keep pressing?

The US is not about to have a free and fair election. The state has put its thumb on the scale to favor the ruling party in multiple ways. It's a mostly free, somewhat unfair election. But still one where the ruling party can be overwhelmed by numbers. Hence the term "competitive authoritarianism."

Read this now: "Just as a private equity firm buys out a corporation and strips it for parts, the consultant class installs friendly operatives, charges fees, raids the party’s long-term assets, and gives strategic advice that ultimately serves itself over the long-term health of the party."

newrepublic.comHow the Consulting Class Is Eating the Democratic PartyFundraising costs gobble up most of the funds raised. Billions are spent on TV ads that have virtually no impact. Candidates may win or lose—but the consulting class always wins.

The Ramaswamy ad has pushed the largest newspaper in Ohio, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, to reverse its position on endorsements. "A candidate who uses childhood sexual abuse as a weapon against the person who endured it has crossed a line that Ohioans should defend, whatever their party."

I just want to name that people overcame this. Even against a stacked deck, the good fight is worth it. Win or lose, it's worth it. And sometimes the good guys win.

Any politician who’s willing to throw away one group’s rights is willing to throw away everyone’s rights. It’s that simple. Every single consultant, pundit and candidate who’s shown a willingness to abandon trans rights needs to be shunned from the party forever

Kansas Dem Sen. nominee Adam Hamilton on trans rights: “I don’t think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender people, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself”

We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words.
