Just FYI because evidently Fox or OAN or whatever is pushing the lie that America accepted the Statue of Liberty and that’s equivalent to the plane. Congress VOTED to approve receiving the statue. So congress should vote on the jet

Actually, apples and apples if you are drawing a comparison. The plane was gifted to Trump as POTUS, ergo it belongs to the country & all its citizens just like the Statue of Liberty. Constitutionally; legally. Trump's corrupt DOJ may say otherwise, but the truth is the truth.

*Apple* is a symbol for America, as in "as American as apple pie 🥧 ." *Orange* used to be the symbol for Florida, but since 2016, it has taken on another meaning. So yeah, it is the difference between 🍎 and 🍊 both metaphorically and symbolically

They’re comparing apples and oranges. The jet is a luxury item, PERIOD. It will transport Trump everywhere and makes only him feel like an emperor. The Statue of Liberty commemorates the alliance between France and the U.S. during the American Revolution. They are not equivalent gifts.

Chester A Arthur was president when USA received the Statue of Liberty and Grover Cleveland was president when it was assembled. The difference is that neither of whom took it with them when they left office.

PS:The Statue of Liberty was a gift to all of America, not just to the President. Do you think any American citizen will be given the opportunity to fly aboard this plane…no, so it’s purely for Trump’s enjoyment, not ours. Huge difference

Are you telling me he can’t add the Statue of Liberty to his presidential library? You guys are always spoiling his fun. Just like those other kids in the military school his parents shipped him to, hoping to civilize him.

The emoluments law says Congress HAS to vote on it. Also - and a pretty big difference here - one is a gift to America from an allied nation for all citizens to enjoy (a national landmark), and the other is a bribe for a corrupt president from oil sheiks (a personal luxury jet).

And as Seth Myers reminded us, President Grover Cleveland didn't take the statue home with him after he left office. This has to be the stupidest whataboutism they have come up with yet. Yet.

Real simple response to those idiots. The difference is one is a statue in a harbor, the other is a luxury airplane. If they think it’s ok to keep it, then put the fuckin plane on a barge next to the Statue of Liberty and sell tickets to visit it!! These Trump clients are just that! C L O W N S

Plus, the statue is not something a President or other government official gets *use* out of (like a plane). Apples and oranges, but most Fox viewers are lost when critical thinking is involved and just believe what is shoveled in front of them.

Fox Notnews has done so much damage to the country... and now - they're the government! "In just his first few months in office, Trump has already hired 23 Fox Newsers to work in his administration" ---

That wasn’t a gift to a President but to a country. Once again Republican comparing apples and oranges. Plus Trump wants taxpayers to pay for improvements and then in four years wants to use it as his personal plane. Don’t remember Grover Cleveland moving the Statue of Liberty into his backyard!

France didn't give Statue of Liberty to a US President, gift to our nation. Statue began 1865, finished 1886=a tribute to US's welcome of refuges. Plane is a gift from a nation without ANY principle of Democracy/humanity to a President well known for his corruption/cruelty/criminality.

Well since the Statue of Liberty was a gift to the American people, I guess this means that I, along with every other American citizen can make use the “gift plane” when we need to fly. Sweet!!!

Congress would approve it, they’re in his pocket. I’m not really sure that makes it better. Grover Cleveland didn’t get to keep using the Statue of Liberty for personal benefit after leaving office.

Right but we all know what happens if it goes to vote in congress. Couple of spoilers ruin it and gift him the fucking plane w/ legitimacy

There’s nothing wrong about Tan Suits. Shortly after their concerted effort to shame him, someone made a picture compilation of at least 6 Presidents wearing Tan Suits. They even complained when he asked for Dijon Mustard on a Hot Dog. I guess in their little brains he was acting “uppity”.

Every now and again someone surprises us, as Rand Paul has been recently. Some of them to have lines they won't cross. but it's very few, and certainly no one on his so-called cabinet, nor the SOH who crawls further up his ass with every word or deed from his mouth or wherever.

Also, don't fool yourself. This plane is almost certainly an upgrade over the Trump branded plane he uses when not in office. He'll 100% use it as his own personal jet after his presidency and, only then, will it be displayed in his presidential library. (The Trump Presidential Library = irony.)

You know they’re only talking to the ignorant out here who we’re gonna believe every word they say regardless of how ridiculously stupid it sounds. Plus, very little bit of research is gonna find the truth, but they don’t do it ever and the Republicans know that.!!!!!

How is this still a thing being discussed. Either he won’t accept the jet, or he already has the votes in Congress to legally accept it. In either scenario we are left with egg on our face. He does this all the time, floats a story he knows will rattle us then make us look stupid.

My husband's dad had a turkish rug in his living room for years because his childhood friend, Thomas " Tip" O'Neil would not accept a gift from another one of their childhood friends who brought it home from Turkey for him. A rug. That's who Tip O'Neil was. Dignity in the R party- no longer.

I’m going out on a limb here to suggest that France (who financial supported what is now USA so much that it contributed to the French Revolution) may have been pleased with the outcome of the US Civil war (or as MAGA call it, the war of northern aggression) and wanted to celebrate with us.

It was NOT a gift from the government of France. It was a gift from the people of France. The statue cost approximately $250k to build (1880 dollars) - paid for by the French people - not the French government

Trump may sell US land to Saudis et al(?) Saudis already bought US land and scarce water rights to raise alfalfa for their horses; + parched forecast for Middle East; + emoluments; + Trump willingness to sell public lands in US; + Arab investments...

Come on people. I think we are forgetting the original purpose of the statue was for air travel (as clearly shown in the documentary evidence below). You can see our former president riding it back to the ranch after he completed his 15th term. (thank you chatgpt)

They need to a) read the Constitution, b) study history, c) review applicable court decisions, d) talk with and actually listen to experts or e) shut up!

They aren't even the same thing. One was a gift for the Nation. And still went through an approval process. This other is a "gift" to an individual, which is really just a bribe. And circumstances that are specifically called out for going through an approval process, which they are trying to subver

Yes he used it for a boat for a number of years as airplanes had not yet been invented. Might not have been paying the closest attention in class that day but that's what I remember.

The Statue of Liberty remains where it was placed as a gift to America. He plans to take the plane with him when he leaves office. ALSO, it will cost our country million to fit the plane for security and safety.

Far more than that That’s a piece of shit 13-year-old plane that needs a lot of work Besides the fact, who knows what bugs are in it and if there’s a Killswitch, we could only hope there’s a Killswitch with him in it when it goes off
