Get a Litter Robot with a Litter Hopper. Very expensive, but so worth it. One box for our three cats, and I only have to empty it once a week and add new litter to the hopper. It's so damn convenient.

I will say the Litter Robot 4 is the best $600 I’ve ever spent. It is a ton of money, but my cats always have a clean litter box, there is never a smell, and I can monitor their habits and weight.

I bought one of the extra large stainless steel ones on Amazon and I really like it - it was around 40 bucks, but zero smell and indestructible. Some cats don’t like them because of the metal but I’ve had no issues.

I’m sorry but every cat I’ve ever known would take one look at that and piss on the curtains in spite, just to make you think twice about any future tomfoolery.

Let me suggest: most litter boxes are big plastic tubs, so instead of paying $30+ why not get one of those $6 storage tubs and cut a door in it. Wherever you choose. In the lid, so they jump down in it. In the side. In the front. Whatevers gonna suit you. Worked for my cat. He don't care.

A shocking amount of the automated litter boxes kill cats because of a lack of sensors / poor coding. And once a few reviews mention this, they'll rebrand and sell under a different name.

Look, I’m so averse to spending money, but I have to second the worth of the Litter Robot because holy shit after using it a year I can’t go back, especially with more than one cat. Luckily my cats love it lol.

The automatic ones are big and clunky and expensive but...essential for 4 cats and lazy humans. We have had the litter robot for a few years and love it.

I know you have, uh, mixed feelings about Wirecutter, but I’m pretty sure it was one of their reviews that said cats tended not like the robot ones anyway. We have enough out of box issues here that, even w/4 cats, no way am I risking adding another aversion to the mix.

The ones with the sifter are pretty cool. We have 4 cats, and these have saved minutes of my life.

I have that model; I only have to change the bag every other week. It is such a convenience to have, and your cat will love it because they will always have clean litter. It also reduces the amount of litter you need to use.

I spent about $175 on the petpivot and it was worth every penny. Or I guess every nickel now.
