I´m not so sure that you can´t grow bananas in the USA or here in Europe, due to the #ClimateChange this might happen soon. But I do not buy/eat exotic foods, with one exception: Fresh ginger, for my meals and for ginger tea, but that´s the only exception, ginger doesn´t grow in Germany.

Becasue we've achieved a critical mass of stupid people to elect them. I always cut young people some slack on who they vote for, because it takes a while after school ends to figure out how the world works. But the old farts marinading in their Fox News juices every day have no excuse.

I think theoretically the cassava plant would be survivable (under improbably high irrigation in the desert areas) in southern California, lowland Arizona, southern Texas, and perhaps in southern Florida. But also agreed, the MAGA folk are not fit to govern.

You're talking about Lutnick here, there's no certainty at all that he actually knows what a banana is. He gets his head stuck in his pants zipper every morning, don't give this guy credit he obviously has never earned

They know exactly what they're doing. They know the cost is on us. They know it's not feasible to produce 100% of every single thing we use in this country. They know, they don't care. They are robbing us blind in broad daylight.

They know some things. They're also very stupid. Trump thinks the tariffs are "playing hard ball", but he doesn't realize that foreign relations are not about fucking over other countries until they relent and give you want you want.

The irony is that these are the same a-holes who pushed for globalization 30 years ago. They got it, and American multinationals made out like bandits. Now they want to pay for it by taxing the people at the bottom who suffered for it!

It goes like this: “We’re not making enough profit. Manufacturing costs in the U.S. are too high, and foreign competitors are eating our lunch.” “Why don’t we manufacture abroad and sell at high prices here?” “The treaties won’t allow it.” “Hmm. If we buy some politicians, can we come out ahead?”

I'm not sure because the biggest revelation of the Illuminati (defined as the far Right in this joke) is that a lot of them really are fucking morons. They're malignant fascists working to upend democracy but also idiots. The stupidity mixes with the evil.

And the tariffs have also given all those big shops the excuse to keep those high prices. If the tariffs are dropped, they won't drop the price of bananas while people continue to still buy them at the high price.

You can't build bananas in America? Next they'll say beef, chicken and other food products aren't made in pretty little packages at the grocery store. Groceries, what an interesting word. 🚬😎

It's because virtually all mega wealthy people were born into wealth. Most of them never have to try at anything, they cruise through life insulated from reality by their money. Some of the more stupid ones think the money means they are smart, and these are the ones we see surrounding Trump.

The best example is doge. How could musk or even fourth grade intellect Donvict think you could create something out of thin air? Simple physics lesson. What effect can nothing have on something? Nothing, zero, zilch, nada!!!!

There was actually a project to farm grow Bananas in America. Ironically the project was cut by Trump. It was 1 of 72 projects to get non-America grown foods to be grown anywhere including America. It was a project that was to go towards ending world hunger.

The project I really wanted to invest in was called universal travel coffee. A guy in Barrow, Alaska figured out how to mass produce coffee in one of the coldest places on Earth. It was one of the other 72 projects that the Biden administration made a contract with which Trump cancelled.

We could grow them in greenhouses, but that would also be expensive and you’d need a lot of them. Seems more realistic to let bananas grow where they already do and trade for them in a more reasonable fashion. But what do I know? I just grew up eating bananas.

Basically there is this company in South Carolina that saw AeroGarden in Walmart and thought, why don’t they have pods for fruits. So starting in 2023 this company has been trying to recreate AeroGarden for fruits and root vegetables. It got so big that the state government got involved.

It eventually got attention from the federal government. Then a contract was made to make this thing happen but the funding would not start until February 2025. The federal government wanted the ability to compete with Dole, United Fruit, Safra, and Chiquita. These companies gave millions to Trump.

Trump won’t but he did sign the BBB than included a 4040 farm from 1988 to be reinstated. 4040 farms were used in operation “midnight climax” under the department running MK-Ultra. The price of fruits and vegetables will continue to rise while meth and cocaine will continue to drop fund by Trump.

There were a total of 72 projects to do with production food not native to America. The 3 companies that made the news especially on the BBC was universal travel coffee, Home Green Fruits, and Car Potato. The EPA reviewed all 72 companies and gave approval and it took 2 years to go through all.

The news only talked about 40 out of the 72 companies. The other companies came up in a report on everything Trump was cutting from the Biden Administration. For food based projects there was 72.For improvements of American there was3,400. For everything it would cost 10 billion dollars in 10 years.

Once AGAIN the LUTNUT shows how STUPID he is, LIKE ALL of Trump's choices! MAGAts don't seem to GRASP that America CAN'T produce EVERYTHING we USE! That's WHY international trade is IMPORTANT & instead of BULLYING them they should be treated like FRIENDS NOT ENEMIES!

There’s a mechanism to achieve what Trump wants: Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). The goal of a Free Trade Agreement is to, as much as possible, eliminate tariffs on each other’s goods and to remove trade barriers. But that requires negotiating like decent civilized human beings, not by bullying. 1/

Yep, Trump's brain ONLY sees $$$$ and BULLYING people is the ONLY way he does business! He likes to "think" he's a BIG tough guy that everyone FEARS and will do what HE WANTS but other world leaders are NOT COWARDS like the CORRUPT GOP we have! The GOP could END this 💩TODAY if they wanted to!

Trump should know that since the USMCA (an updated and expanded version of NAFTA), was negotiated and signed in his first term. He even bragged about it, being “the best in history”. 2/

He knows his supporters are too stupid to clock that fact, so continues to get away with spouting utter tripe, which is parroted by his picks for cabinet.

Tariffs are for products we have a lot of here that other countries try to flood our market with. Like China with steel when we still had a decent steel industry. But Republicans gave them tax breaks to move it to other countries, and Donald bought foreign steel when he built Trump Tower.

Except he US doesn’t have a decent steel industry. In either quality or scale. Trump imported CHEAP steel from China, and high quality steel comes from Canada and other countries. There’s isn’t enough in the USA to meet your own needs, and you don’t make the right kind to meet all your needs.

I don't think Republicans get trade or are purposefully playing dumb for dear leader. We don't have tropics in the US capable of producing the rest of the world does so we TRADE. If you just say: "I don't like you, you are a country that makes dear leader mad, so tariffs". It goes up, PERIOD.

Angele- you're missin the big picture of the brilliance of trump! If I may detail this for you :)))) do everything to increase global warming- then coffee & bananas can be grown in the US! MUSBRA Make US a Banana Republic Again MUSBRA- it just flows off the tongue! 🤣😆😂

incremental price increases still harm the american consumer. corps like walmart raise prices whenever they have an excuse. trump’s fail tariffs give them the excuse.

That’s like saying we have to respect the knife before Trump stabs ignorant voters in the back. … there’s going to be many perforations on the carcass of the American/world economy yet somehow the pack of prefered owning/ruling class will maintain their knife-like vampiric canines on us

No, you have to condemn the lies. Do not look for the silver lining or the “hear me out” anymore, this is what got us here. Call them out every time and call them out harshly. Call them out with facts and put them on the receiving end of “Don’t tell me I’m not seeing what I’m seeing.”

I object to industrial tourism: harvest at airport, drive to "resort" and fill every day with overpriced "tours" where they aren't even allowed to choose their on café, let alone talk to normal people. They even get special sardine tins with tinted windows that don't open

Haha yes, timing is everything. Just like insight into the upside down banana market.” 😉 “I had the best timing. Everyone says so.” 🇺🇸🍌

Also, you are forgetting that Grapes/Wine is way more profitable than growing and selling bananas. Also, it take several years to grow viable Banana trees with an acceptable harvest. They take as much water as grapes as well, which means you have to have sufficient rain or irrigation to grow them.

I know this is a joke, but it got me curious. According to a (very brief) internet search, bananas grow best in humid tropical regions... identified by USDA Zones 9-11... This limits production ranges in the continental US to the tip of Florida & a very small part of Southern California...

Bananas only grow around the equator They need heat, lots of sunshine and high high humidity Even Florida, they barely produce one or two Bananas Also fun fact, all Bananas are a clone which makes them very vulnerable to disease And they do best in an area they have acclimated to the diseases

Lutnik is an asshole. Bannas used to be affordable, now along with so many other fresh foods they will be too expensive for people to buy. It didn't occur to him we can't grow them here? I'm sure he knows, he just doesn't care. He's happy to pass the cost along to consumers already struggling.

Wow, that Lutnick is a real asshole. What does he care about the cost of bananas? He's a fucking billionaire! But Madeline Dean is a great,Representative, I wish she were mine instead of do nothing Mike Kelly!

Lutnick came in last minute with unreasonable demands. We walked away with our heads held high. We will continue to buy Canadian. We will continue to travel in Canada or anywhere but USA. We will not be bullied and we won't be the 51st state. Lutnick was on Epstein,s island Carney was not

He gives Vought extra time but not her! We do grow bananas here but cannot produce enough to meet demand and are dependent on buying from other countries. The increased prices will definitely be paid by the consumers…us. Get bent Vought, you lying bastard!

Almost 20 years ago, when I arrived in Texas, I tried to grow papayas in my garden. The first winter, my dream ended! I always had papayas, mangoes, and bananas on my ranch in Veracruz. Ha ha! (Google Traductor) ✌️

Omg. Set aside bananas. If you build something here there will be no tariff but the COST OF PRODUCTION is exponentially higher. That’s WHY companies offshored production to begin with.

The smug look on his face. The disrespect he shows to our elected official and to all American consumers is appalling. The trump regime doesn’t give 1 shite about the people of this country and they tell You that in multiple ways every hour of every day.

Lincoln’s cabinet has been referred to as a “Team of Rivals” because they had varying ideas to resolve problems Trump’s cabinet is a Flock of Fox Idiots none know their jobs, are afraid to ask for help and they only know how to pretend leading an agency. Trump’s cabinet reflects his stupidity.

It's just like Therese Coffey, ex UK Tory minister arguing upon Brexit, that we should eat British food. That would have had us eating turnips for the whole of the winter.

Someone should have told Therese that only the 0.01% of Tea consumed by Brits is locally grown. That should’ve taught her something useful since she was secretary of state for environment, food and rural affairs. We truly are globally ruled by idiots.

But one would hope that after 80 years of peace and cooperation in Europe folks would not be beholden to the wranglings of nationalistic politicians and could have a more varied winter diet.
