QUINTANILLA: What's more likely -- a $2,000 tariff rebate check or a 50 year mortgage? HASSETT: They're both really good ideas

AAAAND HE'S SERIOUS! Just another out of touch with the "regular people". -we have already paid more than $2k this year because of "His" illegal tariffs. -a 50 yr mortage will put people well past retirement age to pay off. And don't forget the tens of thousands in additional interest rates.

50 yr mortgage: >>>> $100s of Ks YOU have to pay THEM. FORGET home equity loans=there IS no equity for decades. Paying mortage payments at age 70-80 is sheer idiotcy (except to those pocketing >>YOUR money for the same property.) No wonder Hassett & Trump are promoting this snake oil.

When you die with unpaid home loans, the bank will take the home & sell it to billionaires. The intent is that billionaires end up owning all real estate, cutting bank loans out of the equation & collecting rent directly from every citizen.

1: Hey, if you let us take away your healthcare, we’ll pay you a small bribe that you’ll end up spending on basic survival needs like food. 2: Hey, how about if you pay me rent for the next half-century just to live in your own house? No, I won’t make repairs or pay upkeep. It’s ‘yours’ after all.

The Toddler's approval ratings are under water. As the economy continues to tank, he'll want to send out checks with his name on them. The only question is how big the name is. Remember, he did this last time - COVID relief got delayed by weeks because the checks didn't have his name on them.

Smoke and mirrors.. $2000 is a payoff to get you to stop bitching about the economy which will not change while he's in office, Actually many more jobs will be lost and a $50yr mortgage is financially ridiculous, lenders get rich, the problem is supply, build more fuken houses 🤦

You know what, he's right. A 50 year mortgage, paying $1m in interest, never actually owning your home before you die, is a GREAT idea...for the banks that benefit from it! And $2,000 one time checks to make people accept a permanent loss of benefits? Genius to the one issuing the checks...

Ask him how far he thinks $2000 will go for the average person. Ask Trump too. I bet they will expect it to stretch WAY more than feasible. Trump will say groceries for a year for your whole family.

I think $2,000 tariff rebates are more likely to happen than 50 year mortgages. tRump just loves nothing more than sending us back our own money with his name on it like he is PERSONALLY giving us a gift out of the goodness of the heart he doesn't have and never did.

this LOSER who his responsible for the fastest accumulation of 1 TRILLION dollars of deficit ever, is actually one of the leading candidates to lead the Federal Reserve. And OMFG he actually thinks 50 year mortgages are a good idea. WE ARE DOOMED!

And you know, you just know some maga is listening to this somewhere as if it's rocket science. Nodding it's head, anticipating that $2000 check in the mail. Perhaps thinking about that house it can go into indentured servitude for. It's only 50 years! It's future is bright. 🙄

This Hassett guy looks like he doesn’t have any pants on while giving interviews. He grins because the mild breeze tickles his gooseberry bush downstairs. Notice how he mostly gives interviews outside.

I know my situation is unique but I had unexercised stock options from a previous employer due to expire around "liberation day". I was still holding them when they went underwater and expired before coming back. They're gone, not even a tax write-off. I'm owed a hell of a lot more than $2000.

A 50 year mortgage? I was over 35 before I bought a house and was 42 when I bought the one I have lived for the past 18 years. I realize that mortgages tend to be refinanced rather than paid off, but seriously, mortgaged till I'm 92 years old?

Sure, thats rational if over 20 years, you prefer no maintenance risk to $283k in savings plus the appreciation on your house. Its a legit preference, but it doesnt make the 50 year mortgage bad

No. They are both really bad ideas. They both look to extend debt for individuals and the country and are a band aid to cover up the real issues. They are both ideas that an idiot without any business or fiscal common sense at all would come up with.

Both are incredibly stupid ideas. Tariffs led to the Great Depression in the 1930s, and they are well on the way to doing so now. Alienating our closest allies, and now exempting China, is just dumb. $2K rebate will expand the deficit by $700 Billion 50 year mortgage is even worse. A gift to banks

These ideas avoid fixing the system so that it works for all Americans -- a living wage, decent healthcare, a life not filled with strife and stress and pain and suffering. Americans want basic human needs met through their form of government, but the current system is designed to destroy lives.

I could fucking scream. A few minutes ago, Hassett was saying past inflation was due to government spending, Trumps regime deny Americans pay the tariffs, evidence and logic be damned - and now we're floating $2000 stimulus checks - HOW IS THIS NOT INFLATIONARY, by their own logic?!?

Two minor notes: 1. Not a stimulus check, in their words a "rebate", thus accidentally(?) acknowledging that we the US importers/consumers pay the tariffs as a tax on goods. 2. Re: logic. It'd be great if they cared to try any.

This is so simple. Get your mortgage statement. Look how much went toward principal in year 1. Now extend that 19 more years. If you still think this is a good deal, congrats you are the mark.

For those who don't understand mortgages, think of this... Equity starts to build at 5-10 years. 50 year mortgage put it around 20 years. The average American moves every 7 years. So you will never build equity, you will never own your home. You will only be paying interest, always.

And you'll be working to pay off that mortgage until you're 90. Average age of first time home ownership is now 40 and people rarely can pay a mortgage on a fixed income.

Trump claims he will pay down some of the debt with tariff money. The same money he say isn’t there to pay back if SCOTUS rules against tariffs. Also he is RESPONSIBLE for 32% OF THE ENTIRE DEBT. I bet anyone, I won’t come down by a cent. In fact his share may hit 40%+ And you are more screwed

There is no way anybody will benefit except his rich friends. Even Musk said back in october that chumps plans will crash the economy. The real problem is that MAGA voted out of hate for libs and democrats, not for the benefit of everybody.

A 50 year mortgage would be the death knell for income equality in this country. Common sense would tell you that what you pay in interest over 50 years would be FAR more than the value of the house itself. Over the age of 25? Good luck working into your eighties just to pay it off

He HAS to say they're both good ideas or he'd be fired. This guy has been lying for TFG for the last 10 years! Could be his whole life! If your don't support him you're gone. Or not hired. He is surrounded by yes men. No women, he hates women.

What the financial system needs is for trillions of dollars in 2.375% 50 year notes to be circulating. That will be great for bank balance sheets. The 30 year variety didn't quite set off a proper bank run. Seriously though, lending at these durations is just wildly dangerous unless you price higher

If Trump proposed that everybody have poison ivy on the soles of their their feet, Hassett would say it was a good idea, and he would say it with the same shit-eating grin on his face.

50 year mortgages will just drive up prices because you will have your entire life to pay for it without ever actually owning it. People might as well rent since they will never have reasonable equity.
