when you say to a Chinese waiter'' I'm not very hungry, so Instead on wonton of soup, I'll have half a ton'' it doesn't bring a smile to their faces as you might think.

Another diner: "He had no 𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑎𝑚𝑒𝑟 to handle it." Waiter: "Guess he couldn’t 𝑤𝑟𝑎𝑝 his head around it." Me: [dramatic gasp] "I 𝑠𝑜𝑢𝑝-pose I had it coming." [dies again].

For some reason my mind went to “the restaurant isn’t Chinese” and I’m just imaging some Outback Steakhouse with the servers in full Aussie accents, one turns the to other and just says “底部文字” in perfect Chinese, with accent.

the waiter part of this joke is like when boomers tell a joke about a husband being snarky to his wife and then end it with “his memorial service is wednesday at 6pm”

reminds me of a story from 10 years ago, i was at fairly fancy chinese restaurant for lunch (rockville, md), alone, plugged my laptop in to the socket below the table, proceeded to work; then harassed by owner for stealing electricity, then said owner pissed in my soup with big smile, true story

Reminds me of a time when I went to a Chinese restaurant & I heard the servers making fun of us in Mandarin, not realizing that I understood what they were saying. Had a loud conversation at our table on "Did I just hear what I think I did?" and it didn't happen again.
