Hecklers at Republican events get physically assaulted, while hecklers at Democratic ones get a civil exchange of views. And yet I'm pretty sure Tommy would've preferred the former this morning.

🧵🧵🧵 The NY Times posted a 15-minute video today in which I got to tell NYT what’s wrong with its coverage. They said they saw my critical posts on Bluesky and invited me to do a video with them to air my grievances. Weird, right? I didn’t hold back. I blasted their sanewashing of MAGA extremism.

You mean when I learn a huge set of regulations, pay fees, pass tests and buy insurance, in order to be granted the “freedom” of going the speed limit, while staying between the lines and waiting for a light to change?

every elected official they interview in this article, except derrick van orden who they lead with for some reason, had their death threats instigated & encouraged by donald trump. the country doesn't have an incivility problem, it has a maga death cult problem

Cause I'm seeing A LOT of felonious acts being reported in the news, and absolutely nothing about any of the perpetrators being charged with a crime. Just a few little oopsies I guess?

So let me see if I understand this correctly... If I were to get an AI to do something blatantly illegal "by accident", I'd be free of legal liability and the authorities would be powerless to punish me? Is that right?

I know everyone’s jaded and exhausted by the continual parade of madness, but this is the president of US openly inciting racist violence against an entire community of immigrants. (w/ alt text)

IANAL but it certainly feels like the universality of the Law, was dramatically over-hyped. Turns out it’s just vibes and bad faith arguments.

My oldest daughter, who is also an attorney, has said these things to me as well. When your life is built around the law, all of these blatant criminal acts must be even more frustrating.

Pretty interesting bit of history… I had no idea Duffel was a place or a fabric.

1/x Two of the best-known coats on any high street began as working kit for sailors on cold decks. Both carry names from my little corner of the North Sea: Duffel, a small town near Antwerp, and the Dutch word "pij". The story of the duffel coat and the peacoat. #maritimehistory

Saying he'd be cool with Iran nuking my home city is pretty bad but not quite as bad as when Hillary said some trump supporters were deplorable so I can see why the media turned the latter into a major scandal and not the former

A thing I learned about Meta when I was trying to understand how their statements relate to their actions a few years ago is that *they just tell absolutely indefensible lies* and journalists almost always let them. They believed no one would ever punish them for it in any way that matters.

Justin Hendrix@justinhendrix.bsky.social

Most state attorneys general released Meta from Cambridge Analytica-related claims as part of the child safety settlement. New Mexico wasn't part of that deal, and a jury there just found 26 of 29 past claims about Cambridge Analytica, hate speech and misinformation willfully deceptive.

Who could’ve foreseen that after the Supreme Court gave Trump immunity from prosecution for committing crimes while in office he would commit lots of crimes while in office?

Notice what’s happening just in the past few days. AI caused war crimes. AI hacked corporations. AI is denying healthcare. AI nearly caused war with China. Already the concept is becoming a catchall and hiding that, in all cases, there were people and systems getting desired results.

If you want an example, here. The major corporations are already training their AI to engage in corporate espionage and subterfuge. And yet, Google, one of the most powerful companies in the world, gets to hide behind the “rogue AI” bullshit and avoid consequences.

ideally i would love to support minority rights but in this case the minority in question is a minority of the population, so it just isn't worth it, mathematically speaking

Maybe legislators should get paid based on the number of bills they pass and whether those bills achieve the intended effect.

House GOP leaders cancel votes on Thursday - sending lawmakers home later today until after the elections. That means the House can avoid a vote on the Hegseth impeachment plan from Rep. Thomas Massie R-KY.

How can you be outraged about taking your kid to an R-rated film? Who are you outraged at? Any parents complaining about this should have their children taken from them by CPS.

So I guess "dogpiling" is just when a lot of people get mad at an account you guys like..? If "dogpiling" is not well defined, then enforcing this policy is entirely up to their discretion, which they've repeatedly demonstrated to be quite poor...

Adam, you can’t “work together” with these people – this has been self-evident since about 2009. If you’ve been unable to learn this lesson, after all this time, I find that terribly disheartening. Perhaps you should find a new line of work.

Sen. Adam Schiff@schiff.senate.gov

Let’s work together — Republicans and Democrats — to get this done, and bring the movie magic back to America.

I think google has finally gone too far. Hopefully they find out, the same way Target has. Once you’ve lost the love of the people - it doesn’t come back easily.
