Was the emperor of Japan involved at all? Or was it one of those "I'm sure the emperor will appreciate being restored after we overthrow the government for him" things?

let he who hasn't attempted an embarrassingly executed coup cast the first stone

I can't keep up with whether you toads are being openly fascist or pretending the left are the real fascists. At this point there's no point in trying to lie about it.

do u think he realized right before inserting the knife that the emperor is still there and it was literally the same guy even

"but could a five-time nobel prize nominee do this?" [he slides one foot out from under him and fumbles his coup, it's not clear how he thought this would inspire the jdf to repeal article 9]

I like the story on how he wanted translator John Nathan to help him get the Nobel but Nathan opted to work with Mishima's rival Oe. Mishima was furious and cut ties with Nathan. Nathan went on to write a biography of Mishima and traveled with Oe when he later won a Nobel.

Mishima was complicated. It makes sense to find his life, beliefs, and work fascinating, attractive, horrific and repellent all at once (I suspect he would have agreed with this).. Good practice for holding mutually contradictory experiences with equanimity; not a good subject for hero worship.
