So the "free speech absolutists" are now claiming that putting your picture on the cover of a magazine with the headline "the cruel kids table" is "false light defamation." These guys simply crumple into mush at even the slightest hint that maybe, just maybe, some people don't like them.

I haven’t read the article, but the cover says nothing about racism. Pearson made that inference. If the article said something about racism that would be a non-actionable opinion. Finally, false light is a tort designed to compensate for hurt feelings. “F your feelings” is kind of MAGA’s mantra.

LOL. That kid got famous for being 10 snd making anti Obama videos. In 2016 he tweeted that he was interested in Bernie Sanders and was BRUTALLy bullied by the right until he backed Trump.

How come these people say they're not racist? Racism is not a deal-breaker for them. They support a racist and a Nazi, a misogynist. and all the other things that he is and they support the violent Maga and the ludicrously weak Republicans. Call these people whatever you want including racists.

So we can only call a white supremacist as such when they become a public official? But aren’t the public officials kinda pushing back on that too? Moving goal posts much but more importantly fuck you you Nazi

Because they know people don’t like them. It’s why they are the way they are in the first place. Look at people like Elon or Zuck: they’ve never been popular. They’ve always been outcasts. And even with all their money and power, people STILL laugh at them. And it kills them

Only Conservatives are butt hurt all the time for people calling them out for being the assholes. Stop being an asshole and we’ll stop calling you one.

you still need model releases for cover images because they're essentially promoting that publication so if I'm correct (and I've been out of clearance for magazines for a while, so I may be out of date on this), those releases should protect the publication from such specious claims

What’s the likelihood that a professional journalist for one of the largest magazines, senior enough to have the cover story for the most important news of the year has documented evidence of things that were said at a widely publicized event, with half of the world’s media in the room?

It gets better. “I hosted this event and @NYMag intentionally left me out of their story…” So he’s suing for false light or defamation or something but he is t in either the story or the picture. Good luck is right. Hope his advisors are ready to pay opposition legal fees.

I mean these are pretty clear statements that NYMag didn’t celebrate the diversity, equity or inclusion that was represented at the event… I think they should take this to court and make their discrimination claim. They can get Karla Sofía Gascón as their spokesperson :)

Good grief I just looked up who this manchild is supposed to be. Does he really think white men care about him? He’s a useful idiot to them, they don’t even see *basic humanity* in POC. He’s simply chattel for them to exploit in the same way they’ve always exploited all black men.

Which is to say I assumed he was featured in the photo, easily recognizable & white (that fragile ego) but he appears to be none of those things so I’m not sure what his standing to sue is. He is not harmed in any way— he’s calling HIMSELF a member of the Cruel Kids. Where are the damages?

The photo looks like professional work, almost as though the photographer was invited and used high-end equipment, and was not a waiter stealing a quick snap with his phone.

It's funny how for decades Racist like to create names for "other" ppl that's disrespectful & dishonorable: "you people", "c*nt", "n*gger", "snowflake" "Libt*rd" etc...& claim Freedom of Speech! If you call Them Liar, Deplorable, Insurrectionist or Racist; it's a problem & they want to Lawyer up!

OK, hear me out If this guy attends political events where racist or racist-adjacent attendees lend the event a certain cachet and the vast majority of the attendees are white... Never met this guy but he sounds privileged af and just the kind of person to sue because not enough people like him.
