Okay what's up with the thigh tapping? (I know there are more important things. I'm not distracted. I can wonder many things at once. I am medically curious.)

Trump repeatedly taps his thigh as he walks to board Marine One. You can then see Natalie Harp come into the shot to board the helicopter as well.

A Doctor of Physical Therapy discussed this at one point and said it is a cue to help him walk in a straight line where he is supposed to walk or something. Basically another very visual sign of his advancing dementia.

I have known a few people with dementia who easily get disorientated outside their usual habitat. The walk to helicopter is "all is well propaganda" to us. His slapping is signal to personal carer that I know where I'm supposed to go and not lost. His carer is probably the man who enters helicopter.

Maybe he's mad that he actually got their before them? He usually keeps people waiting for him, but now he has to wait FOR them. So maybe he's slapping his leg because he can't slap anyone else? Seems reasonable to me. He's an abuser. I'll bet ya he was so mad.

Behavioral Variant Frontotemporal Dementia (bv/FTD) - is associated with Perseverative/Compulsive repetitive behaviors such as tapping, scratching or picking.

Looks like the hip joint of his exoskeleton is sticking again. Natalie must have failed to lubricate it at the last diaper change.

It's to help with cordination from the complications of the stroke or strokes he's had. You can also see the braces on his calves from the weakness in his legs. Since his ass isn't in the central timezone, he's not wearing the exoskeleton.

Trump had a stroke last year. This tapping is involuntary A doctor on YouTube has been documenting Trump's mental deterioration. Dr. Garrison talks about all of the sudden hand jerks, involuntary leaning, sudden grimacing, and other tics Trump displays more now than ever before.

He's got leg numbness. I suffer from that. If I stand still too long, I lose circulation to my upper right thigh. Slapping it does nothing, though; you need to either sit down or elevate your leg to restore circulation. I was told it could be nerve inflammation because something got pinched.

He's seeing if hes forgotten his keys, forgetting he checked, seeing if he has his keys on him, forgetting he just checked, checking to see if he has his keys, forgetting he just did that. It's possible he's still stuck in this loop even now.

It's a cognitive measure you sometimes see in people with dementia/stroke - the body loses spatial awareness of its limbs so the patient will tap their legs when moving; "My leg is here, this is the leg that needs to step..."

The Constant Fake Waving and Lame Salutes to Phantom Nonexistent Crowds is so hilarious and disturbing at the same time. It’s all a show and that he’s so desperate and incredibly insecure to make it look like people are there for him. When the camera operator pans out you clearly see NOBODY AROUND.

I’ve seen lots of folks do it when I’m at PT. Usually older folks who are recovering from strokes and are working on their gait. But also who is he waving and gesturing at? 😭🫣😂

It's a way to trick your proprioception when it's been damaged by stroke (or similar). Tapping reminds your brain of where the body part is and helps you coordinate movement.

Used to be a neuroscientist before i became i biochemist. Proprioception in general is a super interesting and complex "sense" that involves a TON of other systems. Which is both why it's easy to disrupt but also possible to work around disruptions.

It's more purposeful than a tic. It lets your brain locate something it's unsure of by touching it with something it knows. Allowing them both to stay synchronized for movement (i.e. so he doesn't fall on his face or down the stairs). He does it most for stairs and uneven surfaces like the grass.

Notice how when he starts up the stairs he puts his weight on his left leg then moves his right leg up 2 stairs before going up. The same thing I do when my right leg is hurting as I walk up stairs. The tapping is a nervous tic: he’s anticipating using his bum right leg. Plus: he’s insane.

It's thought that's to activate an exoskeleton support for that or both legs, yaknow, stuff that's vaporware to the non-billionaires. It's also possibly to do with why he twists weirdly when stationary rather than any foot-shuffling.

Are you laughing at "fucking" being translated to "vance/couch" too? What an exquisite little detail just waiting to be discovered lol

There’s a bunch of different cabinet members he uses in place of the cursing and it’s hysterical!🤣

As much as I would like to think that it points to signs of departure, I really just think it’s a nervous tick sort of thing. My elderly father had similar motions that he would repeat like that.
