This is why I say that in the age of AI, it is imperative to be pro-human. Accuracy is not the measure of the value of literature. It is whether your intended audience, other humans, feel seen, recognized, moved by your work. This is what makes work human. This is not something AI can capture.

Nicola@nicodel.bsky.social

On the methodology, we should reject this kind of article immediately. Even accepting AI detection on its face, accuracy is not 100%. Without other proofs this is not investigative journalism, this is feeding the program material until you get a positive to smear. A positive that is bound to happen

It's actually terrifying reading this and seeing how it all is spelled out so plainly. And still, AND STILL, they won't even recognise it as an issue, never mind addressing it.

The CSO has released data on metered electricity consumption for 2025. The extraordinary headline figures: - Electricity consumption from data centres grew by nearly 10% last year, and now accounts for 23% of Ireland's electricity demand.

62% of people who voted to #repealthe8th cited ‘a woman’s right to choose’ as the primary reason for their vote. How’s that for democratic legitimacy?

Just a note to political parties contesting the Dublin byelection that, rather than sitting silently on the sidelines, you need to come out and condemn Hutch's racist comments on immigration. In a democracy, it's not enough to be not racist; one must be actively anti-racist. Silence is complicity.

Sad to see yet another vehicle donated to a disability service plastered with name of the service and donating organisation on the outside. Why do disabled people have to be publicly identified as recipients of charity when going about our daily lives? Why do donors ask and service providers allow?

I don't want to hear another fucking word about how the war in Ukraine exemplifies Ireland's need to abandon neutrality when we're throwing their refugees to the mercy of Ireland's housing "market". If our solidarity can be expressed with bullets but not beds it is devoid of humanity. #spéirgorm

Allowing profiteers to keep displacing people like me and my partner from rural communities across Ireland by hoarding all the housing ACTUALLY IS an attack on rural Ireland.

Genuinely do most Americans think the rest of the world will just blame one guy and leave it at that. I mean he's the main focus but an entire country electing him, around 1/3 still supporting him and an opposition unwilling to protect their democracy from him isn't being forgotten #speirgorm

The one variable here is I don’t think there has ever been, in democratic times, an economic shock where you can point to a specific individual politician and go “it’s this guy’s fault”.

To say "Ireland is full" is not to hold or outline a view - it's a formally meaningless statement of course - it's rather to make a signal to the violent minority for whom this phrase is a claim to racist and fascist solidarity. Time to stop treating II like a normal party maybe. #speirgorm

Data centres uses 32% of Ireland's total electricity supply but pay almost less than half of the residential rate. So we're effectively subsidizing tech giants during a cost of living & energy crisis. Meanwhile this Govt continues to cheerlead their expansion & continue to fail in their obligations.

I see the US media are calling the illegal war with Iran ‘war of choice’. They did the same calling an attempted coup the big lie. You would think journalists would have more respect for words. It is not cutesy or clever ffs it minimises the seriousness of the act and tacitly gives permission.

One of the ways protests work is by sheer numbers. It takes a lot of people to block a city, ergo a lot of people feel strongly about an issue. When 11 fascists with massive vehicles block a motorway it presents a disproportionate picture of the level of support.

What happens if the US Forces refuse the order? Is it a coup? Is there still a government? I don’t think it is quite as simple as just saying no. I mean, I think they should refuse to take part in a genocide but the ramifications are huge.

Greg Sargent@gregsargent.bsky.social

This is how to do it. Sen Chris Murphy also tells me: "Everybody in that chain of command has to think hard about whether they want to be part of the execution of that order." He predicts bombing Iran's power plants/bridges will kill thousands at the outset. 2/ newrepublic.com/article/2087...
