Very queer, unfortunately here, getting used to it. (he/him). Owns Majestic Mess Designs and makes art. Void screaming, media analysis, spoilers, GY!BE, Critical Role, queer media. Loves to draw brains symbolic of my chronic pain. #CriticalRole

Welcome to Blue Sky! Here's a little review of since features and cultural norms for newer users: - There is no algorithm. Liking is nice but does little to boost visibility. If you like it, share it. - Conversely, the only way for garbage to spread is by sharing it. Don't hate-share to dunk.

steam should have tipping. it should have tipping. there should be tipping on steam. on steam, you should be able to tip the developer. the tip money should go straight to the developers who worked on the game and not the publishers or valve. they should make it so that on steam, you can give a tip

#CriticalRoleSpoilers Can’t believe I correctly guessed Liam’s costume is Richard III before they stated it. Knew it was a Shakespeare reference from the costuming, & based on the Seeker’s Table costume theme knew it must be a character known for scheming, & immediately went to Richard III.

#CriticalRoleSpoilers Partly because this was the costume design for the 2014 Oregon Shakespeare Festival production of Richard III.

Ramaswamy has produced an attack ad weaponizing the rape of his opponent, Amy Acton, when she was 12 years old. It features Acton’s mother, who abandoned Acton after she was raped by her step-father, fleeing the state with her husband. Here is the corporate money helping fund that ad.

Former BioWare Senior Writers Mary Kirby (Varric, Vivienne, Lucanis) and Sylvia Feketekuty (Liara, Josephine, Emmrich) and Sarah Hayward (Former BioWare Cinematic Director) have found a home at North Mist with many others in our network.

Very heavy news as our former studio, BioWare closes its doors today. It was a formative place for many. However, many former BioWare devs are scattered around the industry. Find them, support them. Like, follow, comment and help us prove there is still support for the types of games we make!

please stop replying to game devs saying things like "well look on the bright side those laid off devs can start their own indie studios now" because eventually one of us is going to snap and "WITH WHAT FUCKING MONEY" would be a shitty last thing to hear before you die

it cannot actually be ignored or danced around that the closure of BioWare came so soon after the Saudi and Jared Kushner acquisition of EA. they absolutely did take the studio making EA’s broadly queerest games out back and shoot it old yeller style. do not let yourself or colleagues ignore that

EA's closure of BioWare is transparently a vile move to shutter the studio that made by far their queerest titles. In the wake of this, I implore you: MAKE MORE QUEER ART. Make it trans. Make it horny. Make it scary. Make it loving. Make it with every inch of yourself. Flood the world with it!

Part of my literal job is to fly out to physical game studios to rescue and recover historical materials that might be endangered and put them in a permanent archive. @gamehistoryorg.bsky.social is a 501(c)3 publicly funded to do that, my DMs are open, and I'm free for the next couple weeks...

I’ve used this for years and it’s very helpful. And you can still use the night light feature so it gets even more orange at night. It’s easy to temporarily turn on and off if you need truer screen colors temporarily.

because this is super useful to me, i want to share for other migraine/light sensitive ppl: you can make your iphone screen go even more orange than the night light allows, and you can add it to the accessibility shortcut for ease of turning it on!

I actually play I Love Hue with this setting on almost all the time and it’s relatively easy for your brain to adjust while your eyes get more rest. Only need to turn it off for levels that are very warm colors with minimal contrast.

One thing that's really Getting me today: Bioware being shuttered hurts, but it should hurt worse. We shouldn't be as numbed to venerable, beloved studios being torched for no reason by business idiots as we are. This deserves to be all anyone talks about for weeks, not forgotten in a day

I was sexually abused as a child. I'm not the only person I know who can say that. If I'd been forced to let ANYONE perform that sort of examination in order to play sports, a thing children need for health--both physical and mental? I am not unique. Vote no on unnecessarily traumatizing our kids.

Doctors and nurses are voicing their objections. I-638 would require EVERY girl who wants to participate in sports to go through biological sex verification. That means expensive, invasive, and utterly gross examinations. Protect our kids and let them play. Vote NO on I-638

Compared a couple filmed versions of The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. The online movie reviewers generally liked The Picture of Dorian Gray (1945) best. A silver screen of Hollywood version. Other notable one was The Picture of Dorian Gray (1976) by the BBC that was more of a filmed play.

The 1976 version is much, much closer to what Wilde wrote in the language of his time and place and the subtlety of both the aristocracy and publicly closeted gay men in it. But takes thinking about every line and how it’s said and what else it means vs. being fed spectacle.

Fascinating comparison. Certainly know now which is more suitable to my themed list purposes, if I do include it. I needed something a bit more overtly gay and abrasive afterwards, so I rewatched Torch Song Trilogy (1988). Fun way to look at 100 years difference in queer theater.

The 1976 version was much better. Clearly coming at it as theater, with respect for its restrained 19th century dryness and understanding of class. The homosexual subtext was very much there. As was the American criticism. Less focus on individual depravity of vice & more on cruelty of class power.

I can certainly see why people who fashion themselves taste makers of old films prefer the 1945 version: they favor spectacle over substance and are nostalgic for the simplicity of putting the degenerates in their place instead of asking how society enables vein power trips off the aristocracy.

I had my doubts that the 1945 version would have any homosexual subtext. And indeed they did an almost admirable hack job making the story so straight it was lashed to a board and made into propaganda for the necessity of the Hays Code. They also cut out all of Wilde’s criticism of US Americans.

I have gotten very bitter, but seeing that the University of Oregon turned 150, my first thought was, “How many hundreds of rapes have they covered up in that time? Especially from athletes and the Greek system.” Given that they get caught doing so several times a year practically every year.
