One weird trick that editors love.

And that's the--probably--final script of 2026 in the books. Because I finished it at 4 in the morning I am going to do the TRUE pro move and check to make sure it isn't utter nonsense in the morning before sending it off.

If you use AI-produced writing in humanities scholarship you are dead to me. How I evaluate that kind of writing is by crossing you off my list,

Opinion: If AI is now part of academic writing, what should institutions actually evaluate? This essay argues that analytical writing should be judged by evidence, structure, argument, and accountability not by guesses about how each sentence was produced. https://chroni.cl/4eDRdjg

And as an aside - you should not doubt how fucking uncool D&D was in 1998 as a game, and how poisoned that particular well had been for a while. Baldur's Gate turned that around, and if you do want a road from D&D then to D&D now, it does strike me that Bioware's needs more credit than they get.

the idea that empathy is dangerous has been permeating right-wing spaces for a while, but it's not an actual element of their ideology as much as it's a defense mechanism against confronting the reality of their cruelty

Wake up, babe. New pump-and-dump scheme just dropped.

Elon Musk has said he will give every child in America a stake in SpaceX, his $2 trillion aerospace and artificial intelligence company, as tech firms face intensifying scrutiny over their impact on society. https://cnn.it/4yWTjTJ

That third question strikes me as particularly relevant because (and I'm guessing here) many adults who have cut off their parents probably refuse to answer it, because running to the media to complain is another abusive attempt at control. "They won't talk to me, but they'll talk to the NYT."

Nicholas Grossman@nicholasgrossman.bsky.social

“Moral panic” is the right term here, because those raising the alarm make no effort to ask: -how frequently is this happening? -is it more frequent now than in the past? -what do the children of these parents say? -what, exactly, constitutes “cutting off”? -how often are parents disowning children?

Multi-billion dollar news agencies breathlessly reporting every insane thing a billionaire says is one of the most infuriating things about the world WHO GIVES A SHIT HE'S JUST SAYING NONSENSE And even if he actually DID this, unlike his last 50 promises, a share of SpaceX is worth $146. Wowee.

it's probably also time to stop talking about "brain drain" as an unintended economic consequence of Trump rather than a deliberate cultural policy of right-wing governments and a nationalist goal across the West

how it feels talking to democrats about politics these days

GamerDad@gamerdad8six.bsky.social

The dumbest people will see who the democratic nominee is in 2028 and choose to not vote for that person over a single issue even after this fucking clown show we dealing with right now

We pioneered what we're calling 'Distributed Development', a bold new corporate strategy where we pay workers less money

Star Wars: Galactic Racer was made by a core team of 75 people. "What we wanted to do was keep that core small, smaller than perhaps you might have done in the past, and scale capacity and capability with what we call distributed development." https://bit.ly/4hT02qg

For mid-to-high five figures, I will simply sit in a room. And when you have a big innovation in mind, you can come into that room, and I will tell you if your idea is stupid.

"Bill, we want to bring you back for a part in our new blockbuster, Raiders of the Lost Ark." "You're not gonna call me 'Porkins' again, are you?" "No." "What's my character's name?" "Major Eaton." "Fuck you, George"

I absolutely refuse to believe this is real. No one will ever convince me otherwise. Force me to watch the show, it won't matter.
