Today, the people of Serbia turned out in record numbers to shape their country’s future. Congratulations to the Student List on its victory in the parliamentary elections.

It's a rare policy that would be welcomed by both business and trade unions - and at the same time would *improve* the UK's fiscal position. Dropping these proposals - for which there is no economic, moral or political case - would be one. www.ft.com/content/8a00...

I wonder if there is a single person still at the Telegraph who feels even a smidgeon of shame, that in just over a decade it has gone from newspaper-of-record to fluffers-for-rent. It is revolting. Farage, apparently, "lands" a record crypto bung.

If Heath doesn't realise that some of his own colleagues - for example Ashworth-Hayes who wrote the piece Lowe is citing -share Lowe's ethnonationalism he is even more deluded than we thought...

Guy Jenkinson reposted

I'm glad Heath is doing this (and persisting in doing so). But as with Fraser Nelson I wish he'd take some responsibility for creating a world in which most of his readers in the comments are backing Lowe.

Allister Heath in the Telegraph argues that the foundation of Restore's politics is a "Groyperification" into rabid conspiratorial populism that rejects ethnic & faith minorities being equally British. www.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/2026...

Peter's letter also contains a great chart based on the #brexit impact analysis by Jun Du, @shepotylo.bsky.social & Yujie Shi who demonstrate how regulatory barriers led to a huge fall in the variety of different products being traded between the EU and UK.

I think many "public intellectuals" stay on X because while they accept that radicalization is theoretically possible, it's something that only happens to other, dumber or weaker willed people... ... even as their every article inches closer to outright championing eugenics.

X owner Elon Musk indicates he would prioritise political violence (assassination of pro-migration politicians is the common sense meaning) over violence against "invaders" (refugees, asylum seekers, maybe ethnic minorities generally) while endorsing call for violence (killing) against both groups

"First the traitors then the invaders" is Elon Musk endorsing an open call to prioritise political murders + assassinations before violence against migrants and minorities. Still little recognition in the UK government at the persistence of the promotion of political violence - inc murder - by Musk

The reason Zohran scares the shit out of them so much is that they think this sort of technocrat FDR liberalism/market socialism will *work* and be popular, not that it will fail and be unpopular. They're afraid that he will be a good mayor not a bad mayor.

Once you start mass removal of citizenship on political grounds you've stopped functioning as a viable democratic state. But that was always where this agenda was heading.

In case there was any doubt. Restricting access to benefits isn't enough for Conservatives/Badenoch. They want to deport/"remigrate" people who came here on legal work visas, not because of (debunked) claims about benefits/fiscal costs but because they've embraced an openly ethnonationalist agenda

The idea English identity is confined to ethnicity & ancestry is more niche than abolishing monarchy/joining Euro But media elites skew & overcompensate to an imaginary caricature of public = weird assymetry: venerate niches on right as 'authentic' but would lecture progressives about median voter

In a statement to @benmullin.bsky.social, Scott Pelley disputes what Bari Weiss said in this morning's editorial meeting, claiming he was never offered "a way back" as she claimed. "These executives cannot gain the trust of the staff with lies. This is antithetical to everything we stand for..."

Farage plans to ditch workers’ rights, cut the NMW, scrap the Equality Act, legalise discrimination, take us out of the ECHR and have a deregulation bonanza to remove our protections and make it easier to exploit and endanger us… for profit. He couldn’t give a shit about working people.

Wes' theory seems to be that if you wield the knife then you get seen as a traitor and can't win, but walk around waving a big knife with 'backstabbing knife' written all over it going "hey, I'm not using it YET" you'll be a contender. What??

One of the many curiosities of this decision is that Nigel Farage is the only serving UK political leader (to my knowledge) to have been criticised by the Board of Deputies for personally using rhetoric linked to antisemitic conspiracy theories, for which he has never apologised.

Rather tellingly, at least on the BBC's main Sunday morning politics show the focus is still more on voters Labour is losing to Reform.

Patrick English@patrick-pme.bsky.social

I’ve written up a Substack all about how the results from this year’s local elections suggest that the Greens are a bigger threat to Labour’s vote than Reform. We had evidence of this from the polling, and now it’s been reflected in election data. patrickenglish.substack.com/p/local-elec...

Farage was asked for a Cameo clip to “talk about how the world is going to shit and how secret societies are controlling everything”. He appears to have volunteered several Jewish conspiracy references himself to that request. Wouldn't all hell break out if Corbyn/Polanski did this on camera too?

Excellent/interesting analysis from @patrick-pme.bsky.social as ever - and consistent with my view on what has been happening in terms of individual-level behaviour. Using 2024 as the baseline tells a slightly different story (at least last time I looked at the data on Friday) so worth some caution.

It seems like a Prime Minister who continues to get his corruption trial delayed for years because his government is engaged in wars has a personal incentive to keep wars going as long as possible.
