I think that AI is going to end up destroying smaller stuff before it gets around to all of humanity.

That's just fraud, my dude. Even if you use an AI agent. It's just fucking fraud.

He was appalled by the examination system, when it was explained to him, he could not imagine a greater deterrent to the natural wish to learn than this pattern of cramming in information and disgorging it on demand.

It cannot be overstated how much Bret does not make an argument in this column. He does not list a single worthy book he thinks was excluded. He clearly has not read the vast majority of the books. His entire critique is just “these books are written by women and minorities, which is bad”.

That's it, that's the entire column www.nytimes.com/2026/09/22/o...

this is an instructive situation - if you hadn’t clocked taylor lorenz as a grifter and a hack long ago, you need to hone your moron radar

Taylor Lorenz pulling a "Why I'm Leaving the Left" is perhaps the most predictable thing ever to have occurred, narrowly edging out "housecat slowly pushes cup off edge of table"

If you’re confused about Taylor Lorenz running to Bari Weiss’ Free Press for a “why I left the left” piece, just remember what she told the New Yorker:

Taylor Lorenz will do or say anything for attention. She will make things up. She’ll whine. She wants desperately to be cool and interesting and right and she’ll gravitate toward anyone who makes her feel important. Many such cases!

I tried staying out of the Having Opinions About Taylor Lorenz game b/c there was so much noise in the data. Some good opinions, some terrible ones, so it goes. But if we've reached the obligatory "'politically homeless' interview with the Free Press" stage it's pretty safe to call it.

So … a few years ago, the architect of the Capitol built a few plastic ramps at the reflecting pool so ducks could get out. Some Republicans objected to the “use of taxpayer dollars” (which was maybe $20). www.nytimes.com/2017/05/16/u...

We did Disney World when my kids were little and planning the trip was basically cocaine to me for months on end these people are offloading all the best parts of parenting to a calculator that can't do arithmetic but will tell their kids to kill themselves
