Like, Trump already has us on the brink of a for-real World War for no sane reason, just because he likes throwing his weight around and it didn’t occur to him that Iranians shoot back. The energy policy of the far right is going to destroy the lives of tens, hundreds of millions of people.

I think this becomes quite understandable in the context of an international fascist movement that has swept much of the planet in a decade, with horrifying and very extreme consequences for the entire species

I had a canvas picture fall on me yesterday. Got a bit of lingering pain in my hand last night, but thought I'd survived relatively unscathed. Today my shoulder is hurting and I feel like I've been kicked in the ribs by a horse with muscle spasms all over the place. I fucking hate fibromyalgia.

I think people intuitively understand that democratic candidates tossing trans kids to the wolves is not only morally repugnant but also politically ineffective, otherwise they wouldn't freak out every time someone said they weren't voting for a democrat who did this

one of the greatest examples of journalism in the UK for the last 30 years was Brian Deers work exposing Wakefield's abuse of autistic children re vaccines. and it wouldn't exist if he were just a "neutral observer doing objective journalism". No. He gave a shit about the kids! that's all it took!

cornish person girl@gemma.transwrites.world

it's actually cool and okay to care about the things you're investigating and reporting on. It actually makes your work better to be personally invested rather than just going through the motions to collect a pay check. every single piece of journalism considered incredible followed the above.

The thing with bounces, they tend not to stay up. Especially if the words and promises that caused them turn out to be empty.

Two major polls today putting Labour back into the thirties. This one puts Reform firmly in third place and would give Labour a majority of around 134

What's that you say? A UK study aimed at proving that ADHD and autism are over-diagnosed actually found that we are still under-diagnosing both, and lack access to assessments remains a huge barrier to support? What a shocking and unexpected conclusion! www.politicsuk.com/p/fonagy-rev...

Voyager is my favourite Star Trek TV theme. I think the Wrath of Kahn just edges it out of the overall number one slot despite Horner recycling a lot of it elsewhere.

Where Gnome Anne Has Gone Before@wheregnomeannegoes.bsky.social

FIRST OFF this theme song RIPS omg I'm losing it 😩 This is incredible. Is this the tone of the show? Hopeful, melancholy, optimistic, curious, brave, earnest, heartfelt? Honestly if the whole show is just a music video to this song, I'll be happy.

Another one here where the British press just smashed fuck out of a member of the public’s life for no good reason, just because they wanted to and nobody will stop them doing at. And they’re still going, even now.

This won’t be reported widely, but Jason Arday has been cleared of plagiarism for a second time. Still nobody has been held accountable for this man’s death.

UCU Edinburgh@ucuedinburgh.bsky.social

A reminder: Jason Arday was innocent. "A fresh investigation by scientific publisher Taylor & Francis has concluded without substantiating plagiarism allegations against Jason Arday, the former Professor of Sociology of Education at the University of Cambridge."

He's going for eugenics. He means "sick" people have no goals and no worth to society and are only concerned with their own immediate needs. As a chronically and currently incurably ill person I can categorically state a cure is not my only dream. It isn't even top of my long list of hopes.

Matt Novak@paleofuture.bsky.social

I’m not sure I understand what he’s going for here.

The government strips away more support every year until our lives become unbearable and the only assistance they're interested in introducing is euthanasia. They get their think tanks and pet journalists to write ever more obvious hit pieces. 8/

They cast disabled people as either so pitiable death was a kindness, or as villainous, worthless 'useless eaters' paid for by good, hardworking families. A campaign so successful that, when disabled people were killed, nobody really raised a fuss. 3/

Imagine if a prominent trans person posted this? The ‘gender critical’ transphobes would be jumping up and down on Mumsnet, have a front page Times article saying how all “trans activists” (aka trans people) are violent, while running to the billionaire bigot to fund intimidatory legal action!

So JK doesn’t just have one yacht, she has a “support yacht” that follows her “normal” yacht around. And she has the gall to describe one of the most impoverished demographics wanting nothing more than to exist…?

Here's a photo of a helicopter landed on Joanne's 227 foot support yacht that follows around her 290 foot main yacht

The UK TERF movement essentially boils down to a bunch of entitled middle-aged Karen’s who were once criticised for some mild transphobia, and instead of apologising and moving on, they doubled-down, demanded to “speak to the manager”, and made their entire personality a bigot who won’t “weesht”! 🙄😖

Yeah a lot of the piss and vinegar comes from her thinking she should be free to abuse her Lessers and people shouldn't make impolite noises about it. Applies to other posh TERFs too

Miatta can clearly see right from wrong but she's rowed into line twice with a Labour government siding with Shell and Donald Trump on climate vandalism, and into line now on cruel immigration reforms. What is the point of Labour if they can't even do the basics to protect people and the planet?

The Women’s Rights Network are now attacking the mental health charity Mind for supporting trans people with their mental health during a time of unprecedented attacks on their rights. These are the “legitimate concerns” “worthy of respect in a democratic society” the Labour Party has normalised.

I haven't read it, don't currently intend to, but my guess is it's bloated, morally questionable at best, repugnant at worst, superficial in concept, highly derivative, pseudointellectual verbose waffle that's in serious need of a stern editor. Much like her books.

Pay attention to the ableism being thrown around with respect to Christina Applegate finding out she doesn’t have MS. People acting like it’s a relief or a blessing. Like she’s “better off now”. She’s still sick. She’s just sick without answers. I guarantee it’s not a “relief” for her.

The problem is the Cass review was never a medical document, if it was the very obvious methodological flaws would have been dealt with before it was published. It’s a piece of propaganda to be waved around as evidence by people who’ve already decided they want to take away trans healthcare.

The question now is, will the UK govt revisit Cass in the light of this judgement? If they won’t, then it will simply be a political decision by the govt and the NHS to ignore it. The evidence that Cass was always contrived to take PBs away from trans children is right there! And they know it!

Linda Henderson reposted

Desperate stuff Home Secretary originally argued (very misleadingly) care workers shouldn't be allowed to settle because their wages were so low that they'd be a fiscal cost. Now she's arguing they shouldn't be allowed to settle because they'd get better paid jobs www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...
