Input Prompts is the largest collection of glyphs covering a wide range of input devices and platforms. It's also completely free and public domain. 🎮 I want it to be even better though so looking for feedback; what's missing? what can be improved? kenney.nl/assets/input...

I approve of the message here, but the logic doesn't quite add up Gallium has a melting point slightly lower than chocolate. It would absolutely melt in your hand https://musebyclios.com/environment/this-statue-of-ron-desantis-melts-dead-away-to-illustrate-the-dangers-of-climate-change/
SwiftFormat 0.64.0 is out! This is a huge release with too many new features to list, but here are a few: - Adopt formatting incrementally using --snapshot - Fix common typos automatically - Flatten nested ifs and repeated guards https://github.com/nicklockwood/SwiftFormat/releases/tag/0.64.0
Massive thanks to all the contributors, who are also too numerous to list, but a particular shout out to @calstephens@mastodon.social for his tireless efforts in fixing bugs and reviewing PRs

terrific profile of Marc Andreesen. Turns out most of the stuff he's big mad about never happened. www.bloomberg.com/news/feature...

It's perfectly possible to run ads in a legal and ethical manner, but the problem is that ad companies have *zero* incentive to do so. 8.5 million euros is *nothing*. It's pocket change. As long as they make more money by breaking the law than they lose from fines, they'll keep doing it.
Another blow to the adtech industry. The decision confirms what we've been saying: It is practically impossible to operate in this industry without breaking the law.

This is a really interesting point. I agree with @dame.is's take here, but I also don't think playing violent videogames is harmful, so how do I square that? Well, as always, the answer is nuanced: playing a game like Doom or Wolfenstein is not inherently psychologically harmful because in context
there's really no difference between this and saying that playing violent video games is harmful to the characters

Update: I realize that I gave the original quotes post a little too much credit by saying the point was interesting - the point about videogames being harmful to the *characters* is clearly facetious, but that's not a fair analogy to the suggestion that @dame.is was making (I think)

If anybody says "kibibyte" to me I reflexively punch them straight in the nose. Then I apologize and thank them for clarifying. Then I punch them again
I need to decide if 1KB means 1,000 bytes or 1,024 bytes in all of my software I was leaning 1,024 but it looks like macOS and Windows both define KB as 1,000 these days I want whatever people are most likely to understand (I do not think most people know what KiB or MiB means)

There's growing experimental evidence¹˒²˒³˒⁴ that LLMs are unusually good at talking people out of entrenched false beliefs and conspiracy theories. ¹ pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39264999/ ² pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41179846/ ³ sciety.org/articles/act... ⁴ connecticut.adl.org/resources/re...
Unpopular opinion: LLMs are generally deradicalizing people whose beliefs are based on pure propaganda. I've been watching this happen slowly with some people I care about. ChatGPT is one of the reasons they finally accept that the NRA, OAN, and NewsMax are lying to them.

Like, every so often, someone comes rushing out to say 'I think we invented AGI' and, if that were true, the next words out of your mouth ought to be "and so we now have moral obligations towards this new being we created" and somehow that is not generally what I see comes next.

A rare case where I have sympathy with Amazon. The Kindle store, like everything on the internet with an open submission form, is getting absolutely *hammered* by AI spam. It's a platform-killing problem if unaddressed.
